Hi all, So are you ready for another night of full moon madness??? We are!!! Everything is looking like it's lined up just about perfect. We've got some great people lined up to play for us, the weather is looking good & the moon will be at it's fullest this Saturday night. So yeah, the location is still a secret, but it's within a half hour's drive of SF. So this will be a perfect time for those of you who have heard the stories of our Big Sur parties, but haven't been able to make the trek, this is a much shorter & easier drive. So tell your freinds & bring them along for what's looking like a really fun night of dancing. Also this is a LEAVE NO TRACE event, so please don't let any garbage hit the ground, we will have trash bags around. Also if you see anyone drop something ,please ask them to pick it up. Leaving a trashed party site is the kind of thing that makes it hard to find more party spots. Now a bit about the road, it's a very windey road all the way down the coast, then up the mountain, it's a one lane paved road, once at the top of the mountain the last 4 miles are on a graded dirt road, but most cars can make it down there just fine, unless your car is lowered you should be fine. Because my slumlord of a landlord has decided that I make too much noise, which is really funny because I live in the Mission where it's constantly noisey. So yeah if anyone in or near the city is looking for a chill roommate or knows of anyone looking for a good roommate, please let me know??? Oh yeah I don't make that much noise, but there was alot of noise here a month back when I had to evict an insane roommate, but I'm pretty quiet myself. Thanks Ian

When your unemployed, except ya get to hang out with your working freinds" Thats my screwy way of saying I've just lost my job. After 8 years of tireless dedicated work under rediculous conditions, the boss has decided that because I show my emotions, that I'm somehow a threat to the buisness. But thankfully I have a pretty good retirement package. So I'll have atleast 4 months before I have to even consider looking for a job, which means lots of time to travel & see freinds & such. So I'm thinking about atleast one long roadtrip up north & one to the south & east, maybe if I'm lucky I can lineup some gigs on the way & call it a tour or something... But yeah if anyone knows of any interesting tech related jobs, I'm thinking of expanding my horizions, as radio really is a dying medium & I can figure out how to make just about any system work for me. Any ideas peoples???

Shake Lasta!!!!!

Forget about Burningman, check this out : Once again Captain Schlaut, Captain Ron and Captain Tom will take you on a journey into the depths of Lake Shasta for a psychedelic show down of the west coast's finest live acts and DJs. This event is a fine example of what the combination of great friends, music, location, and aquatic sports can bring when sailing the Shake Lasta Seas. Again this year we will feature 3 boats, but have gone up to 4 nights and 3 days of music and mayhem for all to enjoy. We will feasture the same boats we had last year that provides a great large stage/dance area for all to enjoy. For those who have yet to experience the Shake Lasta experience, it's kind of like this... The event was created in an effort to align the various talents of those involved in the psychedelic music community throughout the west coast. Three boats set sail Thurs (9/28) morning and return Monday (10/2) morning. We sail the beautiful Shasta Seas in search of which cove we decide to call our own. Then we transform the boats and land around us into our own private psychedelic Oasis in which we set up a sound system, food, drink, deco, and anything one has to offer to the experience. This will be the 5th year running and there are no signs of stopping. The experiences shared on these boats are one of a kind and leave many deep memories. There are a few changes this year that will make it even more of a blast. First of all, it's a few weeks earlier, which means it will be even warmer, which = more water fun! Study finds no marijuana link to lung cancer By Deena BeasleyTue May 23, 9:40 PM ET Marijuana smoking does not increase a person's risk of developing lung cancer, according to the findings of a new study at the University of California Los Angeles that surprised even the researchers. They had expected to find that a history of heavy marijuana use, like cigarette smoking, would increase the risk of cancer. Instead, the study, which compared the lifestyles of 611 Los Angeles County lung cancer patients and 601 patients with head and neck cancers with those of 1,040 people without cancer, found no elevated cancer risk for even the heaviest pot smokers. It did find a 20-fold increased risk of lung cancer in people who smoked two or more packs of cigarettes a day. The study results were presented in San Diego on Tuesday at a meeting of the American Thoracic Society. The study was confined to people under age 60 since baby boomers were the most likely age group to have long-term exposure to marijuana, said Dr. Donald Tashkin, senior researcher and professor at the UCLA School of Medicine. The results should not be taken as a blank check to smoke pot, which has been associated with problems like cognitive impairment and chronic bronchitis, said Dr. John Hansen-Flaschen, chief of pulmonary and critical care at the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia. He was not involved in the study. Previous studies showed marijuana tar contained about 50 percent more of the chemicals linked to lung cancer, compared with tobacco tar, Tashkin said. In addition, smoking a marijuana joint deposits four times more tar in the lungs than smoking an equivalent amount of tobacco. "Marijuana is packed more loosely than tobacco, so there's less filtration through the rod of the cigarette, so more particles will be inhaled," Tashkin said in a statement. "And marijuana smokers typically smoke differently than tobacco smokers -- they hold their breath about four times longer, allowing more time for extra fine particles to deposit in the lung." He theorized that tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, a chemical in marijuana smoke that produces its psychotropic effect, may encourage aging, damaged cells to die off before they become cancerous. Hansen-Flaschen also cautioned a cancer-marijuana link could emerge as baby boomers age and there may be smaller population groups, based on genetics or other factors, still at risk for marijuana-related cancers.

Ode to the Joy of a Sampler

I got my first chance last night to play out DJing with my new sampler (Roland SP-404) in the mix. It's soo much fun to have a new instrument in my mix!!! It's like having a whone new bag of tricks to play with & thats with only having it a couple days, with just a handfull of samples loaded into it. I can't wait to play with it once I get it loaded with fun samples!! I've got a bunch of ideas for stuff to load into it, but if anyone knows of any good sample sound libraries that are accessable, I would love to know about it. Oh the joy of sampling!!!

I just signed up with Just Say Agency, an artist/DJ booking agency, who among other artists bookes the legendary Jesse Saunders. Who if you don't know is one of the people credited with creating House music & starting what became the Rave scene. It may seem like I'm bragging, but it's more of me trying to process the awe that I'm fealing to have achieved such a momentus thing. Yay me!!! So yeah if anyone wants to book me now they need to talk to Just Say Agency Signing off...

That I can't get myself booked to DJ more often?? I'v been spining for over 10 years, I'v paid my dues, honed my chopps, learned my skills & now even gotten demo CDs out there. But still I'm lucky if I can get one booking a month & even then it's at pretty small gigs. What the f*ck am I missing??!?!?!?!

This morning on the way to work, there was a freshly dead skunk on the road in the lane parralel to mine. As I passed by it, an SUV sped past & hit it just the wrong way, with the end result being my poor car being covered in a shower of skunk chunks. I think this is the most disgusting thing to ever happen directly to me...

So yes, this friday was a definate example to me of why everything in life averages out in the end. To illustrate my point, look at how things went, I had a DJing gig in downtown San Jose, which I was late getting to because I just "had" to go get some new records, but then it seemed that my timing on getting there worked out just right as the promoter was running behind schedule, so back to balance. Then my set pretty much sucked as the headphone amp on the mixer I was using (Rane) made it almoast impossible to check my mix in cue before actually doing the mix. So major negative right there. But then I was off to 1015 for Get Freaky & while there, Freq Nasty threw down such a fun set he had me dancing so hard my legs eventually gave out on me, but not before I could make a couple of those wonderful dancefloor connections, where you just smile at someone & you both totally connect solely because of the love of the music, one of these connections even led to another DJ booking. So once again the scales of life (Karma) balance out again. And so it goes over & over again....

Yeah, yeah, so now everyone's doing it...
