<div>I've released a new fidget house mix on my website. http://www.djdas.com

"Peak This Motha Out!" Is everything I love about fidgit... stompin, wompin bass with a sort of silly and fun attitude... i love this stuff. I still love techno and have been enjoying dubstep a lot recently too... but the high energy, phat bass and sometimes funny songs bring me back to the techno of 1992-1993 in san francisco... with everyone dressed up to RAVE! lol.

Check out the mix... and look for a posting in my blog on http://www.djdas.com and leave a comment on what you think...

more underground types like me. Some have big egos and think they're
better then everyone else because their a success in the entertainment
industry... i call those idiots. personally i think judging your own
success based on others is a cop out... just putting your all into

judge myself based on myself... its easier to tell when im actually

Full Moon Santa Cruz 4th of July Rave

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/djdas/blog/5ed749c7-f627-4dbe-a5ce-8832f9923150">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/c84/800/c848009c-ab3a-4191-b092-d134e69503f0.thumb" width="65" height="40" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>Well... though not as large as I hoped for this was a fun, good time on a beautiful beach.. and no cops. Acid Totem really went off that day so only die hard ravers and burners seemed to make it, which was fine... the full moon was out in strength, big surf and phat beats. Actually the beats were exceptional... I must say.

DJ Pablo started off the night with psytrance / progressive trance banging away, a kind of music most people really enjoy.. especially in the circles i dance through. This was my welcome back party and hearing all my friends DJ again after so long was a real treat... mucho improvement! Next up was DJ Seek and threw down a phat semi-old school breaks set... he really nailed it and showed everyone there a sound I've loved for 10 years. I played some next, DJ Das, though I wasn't supposed to, DJ Steve Eatough was late. I dropped some really in your face hard electro influenced techno, showing new and old friends what I've been doing with my spare time... collecting phat tracks. LOL. Steve showed up with DJ Consciousness shortly after i started, bringing more people from their monthly (that was earlier that night). Steve Eatough got on the decks and finished up his set, dropping sub bass heavy and sometimes melodic and beautiful techno and then I got back on and finished up my set, dropping more phat techno tracks mixed in with some simple. driving minimal and melodic tekno... and last, but hardly least DJ Consciousness finished up the night with a really nice minimal and sometimes glitchy techno set... we're all real music lovers and it really shows when we share it.

Peace and hope to see you at the next one. Its in the works now!

Something about House music &amp; Techno

    </a>
										<div>There are so many forms of the style of techno, used in its broadest and most electronica ignorant way. Anyone who's love for music includes electronic forms knows what house music is... funky house, deep house, micro house, minimal house... this is where the line starts to blue into my other current favorite genre of electronic music... tekno! Sometimes they can go to far for many in this world, but I love it.. the right amount of distortion layed on a whomping pad and bass line can take you places. I'm into slower styles of music too, like glitch, trip hop, down-tempo, and the warbling and bass womps of dub-step, but I dont collect them at the moment.....much. i just havent head many producers making it with the musical qualities that attract me... well.. ive heard a few.

How hard it must be when booking a DJ and being confused about what makes up each genre and sub-genre of electronic or tekno forms of music. I just want to laugh when I hear a tune and hear it all... "that was one womping, glitchy driving trace tune... eh?" "what? that was techno!" "no.. trance!" ... ahh.. i think ill check out of this debate. late!</div>

What makes the DJ?

<div>What makes the DJ has a really stupidly simple answer, but in a world of over inflated egos it often gets lost to some of us. I have a lot of DJ friends, a few produce music, and all the really good ones are musicians of a sort... my two favorite friends that mix both play the guitar and have a healthy love for music... period. I wasnt one of those guys. Why did I first pick up the deck? Well... I was playing one time with them, in a friends house, while he talked to his girlfriend in the other room. By pure luck I hit a decent quick crossfader mix... it sounded good and i surprised my friend.. who had been listening to me train wreck for about 15 minutes. Nice guy... eh? It felt good... impressing someone... something a lot of people in the world like to do. I was 20, im 37 now.

For the longest time I taught myself to mix... origiinally on a couple belt driver techniques with a cheap mixer. After about a year I had gotten the basics down... matching beats and putting together things that compliment each other... but i noticed I really didn't have that ear.. the ear for music that a real music lover has. My friend and DJ did... he played guitar.. and made a name for himself in San Francisco a few years after this time in our lives. His name isn't important. I learned a lot playing with DJs that are better.

Am I a music lover now adays? You bet and I've produced a few songs, nothing to share about, but decent. I still have some more I want to learn about music theory. I became a bigger fan of classical music this past year... you know the kind of stuff your listening to at the movies that really stirs you up.. or down. Philip Glass and Edward Grig both have a style I like a lot. Very... umm.. dope. ;) Anyway... I've grown a lot and love more then tekno and house.. though i still listen to them more than any other genres of music. I like breaks and drum n bass too, but rarely play them. I'm in downtemp too... and some trip hop.. the glitchy stuff... you betcha! I'm all over the place and that how you can make out the DJ in the world... vs the wanabees... like I used to be.

Am I some stuperstar studded DJ... no. lol... but im making the life I want.. dont trip. ;) Remember I like to mix things.</div>
