I originally wrote the following as a response to a personal email from someone here who couldn't make it to our wedding, but LN told me I should post it so you all could read it:

While I can't say that everything was "perfect," I believe it was as it was meant to be (the closest we get to perfection in this life.) There were so many precious moments and lovely surprises--things we couldn't have even imagined until they happened. Everyone in attendance seemed to be witnessing something truly unique, which was our wish, but completely beyond our control and infinitely better than we had planned.

There was so much love in "the room" that I'm sure that all the wishes of people who couldn't attend must have manifested in some way--there was even a *mystery gift* in the sand (maybe an early visit from "Los Reyes?") I've heard that many people commented "I can't believe all of that happened in such short a time!" I think I lost my sense of time, which I take to be a good thing and a hint of Divine Intervention.

Coming back to Earth... I'm sorry you couldn't be there, but I'm glad you wrote. I'm sure we'll be publishing pictures online somewhere so you can see them.

Be Well,

short-list:

1. happy couple first introduced and relationship nourished by online communication
2. business & friendship circles enlarged (for both of us)
3. int'l gigs both acquired and publicized (for both of us)
4. all of you wonderful people who read, encouraged and prayed/wished/crossed fingers for us to be successful in love & work.

...is "rolled" "r's"

si quieres un ron y cola, necessitas pronunciar la palabra CORRECTO!
no diga "ron" como "rahn..." diga "rrrron" como "drrone" (sin el 'd')--con sentimiento mas fuerte!

en ingles: if you want a rum & coke you have to pronounce the word properly!
don't say "ron" like "rahn..." say "rrron" like "drrone" (without the 'd')--with gusto!

i got *schooled* at work about pronunciation... <blush> ...at least i got my rum!

and my little show-off knowledge:

turns out mr. barcardi is from my town... apparently what he did was figure out how to make rum palatable to europeans. i guess the natives drank it kinda rough and he added that catalan suavecito... (actually, catalan food isn't known for being particularly bold-flavored.)

flow vs. flux

essentially those words are synonyms...

however, *flow* is usually interpreted as a really good thing and *flux* is more "let's-see-how-this-plays-out."

flow: i dj'ed the first weekend i was here at a new music bar (acqua) and at a popular established place (magma) walking distance from home. leading up to the 2nd weekend i talked myself into a gig w/the pacha organization (http://www.pacha.com/ ) and played at their newest venue wed, thurs and late friday. i arranged to go into the city (barcelona) to make itunes playlists for another bar i used to play at (torre rosa) every other week at the same rate as dj'ing (4 hours pay for 2 hours work? i'm ok with that.) another bar i used to play at in the city (sub rosa) wants me back. while trying to get the phone number for the boss @ another bar/restaurant (arranging another dj gig) the boss WALKED INTO the shop i was in... granny gave me a "going away pre$ent."

flux: 2nd weekend acqua gig fell thru as a regular thing--i'm now the sub. not sure how many nights i'll be playing @ pacha for sure (although they seem to be trying to build thursdays around "black music" and get the crowd used to my sound--i play really different than other djs here.) torre rosa won't be able to offer me dj slots till september. granny's "pre$ent" coincided w/the dollar's all-time-low against the euro.

all things told, i'm actually doing quite well. i dig it here, i'm with the woman i love and my spanish is progressing--even by little bits... my mom misses me (so does granny) but i try to check in relatively often.

...looks like things are gonna work out.

p.s. that pic is saturday night @ the new pacha (aka "sweet pacha" in the port [or aiguadolc--catalan for "sweet water."])

i googled myself and hits #3 & 7 scare me: http://www.google.com/search?q=%22dj+t-bird%22&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

#3--a few years ago when mp3.com was still around some guy from norway was trying to get me to change my name (i was just "t-bird" not DJ t-bird as i often bill myself now.) turns out he was a TRANCE producer--bleah!! i tried to comprimise w/him by me going as *DJ* t-bird and him as "t-bird from norway" or some such. he wasn't having the name change, although if i wanted to i could have forced him to (i'd been on the web and using the name t-bird for many years previous to his appearance.) i guess he felt that releasing music under that name gave him precedence. he was in error--the reason the group "steps ahead" (featuring several music heavyweights) is called that is because a bar band called "steps" wouldn't sell them the name (there are some japanese releases under steps ahead's old name.) apparently this trance guy had some shirts made...

#7--i'm a WATCH? well, at least i'm a rolex--something of recognized value. as it turns out, my given name means: Priceless, flourishing, flower (flower? whatever.) http://123-baby-names.com/origin_meaning_Anthony.html

garlic--i've been teaching myself to make salad dressing. the only consistently good thing i've made so far is honey mustard. garlic is an *essential* ingredient (i'm gonna back off the mayo, though.)

unfiltered apple juice--tastes like drinking an apple. feels a bit heftier than the usual clear stuff, too.

my family--bad news: my dad's mom died and the funeral was thursday morning (9am, morning in ANYONE'S book.) good news: i got to meet her brother and sister who i think have never been to california. i also got to see all the people i missed on christmas (was on my way to spain then) and a few extra folk from out-of-town. i just met a few 2nd cousins tonight (their mom INSISTS they call me "uncle"--i told them "just call me t.") the young man (pj) makes beats and his mom says he's a graphic designer also, his sister abby is an amazing artist and wants to be an animation director--she's got skillz AND knows how to deal with people. did i mention i've been treated to almost 3 free meals? (free food tonight, but i wouldn't call 3 taquitos and a whole bunch of nuts "a meal.")

my friends--everyone wants me to do well and they do their part to help when asked. what more could you want from friends?

my gf--she's encouraging, yet sobering. although my irrational behavior at times frustrates her to no end, it's always clear that she loves me greatly. reminds me of my relationship w/god (although i still refuse to concede that we are divine.)

so people are being arraigned in boston because of AN AD PROMOTION that some bostonians thought looked like a bomb? these VERY SAME items were in other major us cities (including NYC--a place that HAS been bombed relatively recently) with no incident whatsoever...

is it maybe some sort of post 9/11 guilt or something (one of the wtc planes left from logan airport in boston?)

one of my friends told me about this before the arrests were made (she knows one of the guys.) somehow it doesn't seem to matter that TURNER BROADCASTING has issued a statement claiming responsibility for the items.

not that this is a particularly unusual thing, but i´m feeling kinda grateful for my lot in life and just want to testify (as we used to say "back in the day.")

1. i am with my gf having a great time
2. i am in spain having a great time
3. people here seem glad to see me (well some aren´t, but they´re not so important)
4. people at home seem to be glad for my situation (i know my mom will miss me, but she´s still encouraging.)
5. i´m doing what i love for work and there´s real opportunity for it to be a good situation when i...

soooo... I'M LEAVING TOMORROW!!! (i.e., monday)

going to see my beloved AND i got a new toy!! info: http://store.topdjgear.com/m02mousbmico.html

had to find something that would fit in my bag along with a laptop. my buddy drue actually recommended this specific item a week or 2 ago and i of course had to look for something else... but i wound up with this keyboard that he recommended. i plugged it into the laptop via usb, opened up reason and told it to "look" for controller keyboards--sweet. now i can work on music in whatever part of the world i find myself in. :D

i should be coming out of the "time fog" around my birthday (wednesday) AND i'm having a celebration at a gig on friday (although i'm playing on thursday, too.) maybe i should celebrate denzel's birthday at my thursday gig (he's mr. 12/28.) that would be just weird enough for me to do... ;)

...gotta go, i'm supposed to be packing!

Hey Peoples...

As some of you know I'm going on my annual Winter trip to Barcelona, Spain on Christmas Day. As a way of saying "Goodbye (for now)" I'd like to invite you to come out to my Wednesday gig @ Air Conditioned Supper Club (625 Lincoln Bl. Venice Beach, CA 90291 for you mapquesters...) I get on the decks @ 9.30 PM. If that address sounds familiar, it's because the "Pre-Turkey Day Party" (aka "Gobble Gobble Mofo") was at the same venue.

Those of you who went know what a lovely venue this is. For those of you who don't, this is a great opportunity to dance, drink, eat (until about 10.30) & be merry!

This is a free but 21+ event--so no kids or underage "cousins" allowed. ;)

I hope you all can make it!

Happy Holidays to all,

I leave the USA on Christmas Day and arrive in Barcelona (via Zurich--no messing

Birthday (Dec 27th.) My first gig is on Denzel Washington's B'day (he's one day from
being EXACTLY 10 yrs older) at one of the places i played this summer Torre Rosa: http://www.torrerosa.com/Ing/QSomos.asp

I'll be around till the morning of Jan 18, so if anyone in east/west europe wants to book me...
...i could be interested! ;)

Reboot Party DJ's-

You guys are the crew for the Tribe.net REBOOT party on 10/10. Obviously you know that the party is next Tuesday, starting at 8PM at 12 Galaxies on 2565 Mission St. in San Francisco. I can't thank you guys enough for helping us make the party kick ass. From the looks of the RSVP list, it should be a great night - 177 in the tribe and counting!

Here is the lineup:

8PM: DJ Domino ( http://people.tribe.net/eaca32d3-99a6-44eb-b2ad-df84d751dc28 )

9PM: Tomas Diablo ( http://people.tribe.net/tomasdiablo )

10PM: Shatter ( http://people.tribe.net/the-shatter )

11PM: T-bird ( http://people.tribe.net/djtbird )

Midnight: Star-D (Conexus) ( http://people.tribe.net/star_d )

Here is what Robert from 12 Galaxies told me to pass on to you guys:

"We have 2 turntables and a mixer. DJs need to bring their own needle cartridges, and they may want to bring a second set of turntables tto do all the wickiety-wackety DJ stuff.

<edtiorial comment by t-bird: i'm not sure what we'd need an extra set of turntables for--i only need 2 for "the wickiety-wackety stuff" i do... a dj CD player or 2 might be nice, though for "exclusives.">

Please also let the DJs know that we will be controlling the volume levels, not them, that they will be more for background than spotlight. I think everyone will have a better time if they can actually hear each other."

<methinks they've had problems with LOUD-ASS djs before... also, after about a few hours of chatting, etc i think SOME people will be ready to dance. that doesn't mean the dj has to be obscenely loud, but "background" can be kind of an issue if people actually want to dance. whatever...>

i kinda wish there'd been a bit more notice. i've pm'ed brian about playing and i hope he or someone else responds...
while i promise i won't play the "hit parade" (hi lisa bunny!) i would definitely have to play "september" for the llamaconners (is there even an "october" song?)

who is going? i'd love to attend, but i can't go up to sf JUST to party... i have to at least have a pretense of it being BUSINESS!

IRONICALLY, i saw it on the plane back to the states after leaving london heathrow--where i was delayed for THREE DAYS. if you're questioning or critical of the us or uk govt's actions YOU NEED TO SEE THIS FILM. ok, maybe "need" is a little strong, i'm sure some of you are MUCH more informed and have considered the situation more than i.

having dealt directly with the effects of "terrorism" the movie cut a little close to the bone...

as many of you know, i'm a little bit of a computer tinkerer (mostly user, but the occassional minor tweak is not beyond my abilities.) occassionally my gf will ask me to help her with something computer-related.

my gf is a fan of apple computer products, while i am not. not a particularly big fan of ibm/microsoft, but it seems to meet my needs a little better at the moment. all of that is to explain the purpose of this entry--WE NEED HELP!!!

problem #1: photoshop keeps quitting before it finishes opening. no explanation other than "photoshop quit unexpectedly"--yeah, i know that. any clues about WHY or how to FIX the problem? (this drives me batty about macs.)

problem #2: we can't seem to get the printer to show up as an option for printing. she's used the printer before and i don't know what the problem was that caused it to stop working, but we can't re-install it and make it work. (isn't that the stuff mac's are supposed to be better at?)

so if any/all of you could either pm or reply that would be great... this ish is driving me nuts.
