College, although often a refreshing and socially rewarding time, provides a myriad of opportunities to hear piss poor DJs. A little over a year ago, I met Dave through a mutual friend of ours from Seattle at a house party here in L.A. Granted, I'm not the type that regularly approaches men that I don't know at college parties, but after a slew of sloppy mixes of pop hip-hop tracks, my ears were relieved by the intro of Infusion's mix of JFOS's "Do What You Want" and a stellar set of proggy house and breaks. Sweet Jesus! JFOS, WOW, and Weekend World at a college party!?! I was officially stunned. So, by the time Dave got a few songs into his set, I was dying to approach him. After our friend introduced us, he proved to be even more surprised to hear me spout off the names of his tracks than I had been to hear them played at a college party in the first place. We bonded over music we both enjoyed for a few seconds before he got back on the decks, and I proceeded to gush about how great the music was to everyone within earshot. It's rough, however, to achieve musical comaraderie with people who enjoy Kelis' "Milkshake" more than Hybrid's "Finished Symphony," so I celebrated the first night of real music at an Oxy party in three years all by my lonesome.

Now, a year and several months later, I will admit that it's possible I might be somewhat biased about Dave's music, but that first night I met him, my musically elitist ass still loved his set, even though I had yet to be influenced by his musical omniscience & ingratiating personality, and, oh yeah...fall in love with him :)

I testify before man and god that Dave is a person among men!
