Rynning Jackson Worrell made his appearance today at 10:30 AM. He weighed in at a whopping 9.1lbs and 22in long. Mom is doing well and we are all resting and recovering in the hospital taking it easy. We will post more later, but wanted to share with everyone the news. Thanks again for all your support and encouragement.

I included the use strict;use warnings on the script to debug it and I
have worked through most of them but cannot figure out how to "fix"
this:

Unregistered entity: Can't access modules field in object of class
XML::RSS at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.5/XML/RSS/Private/Output/Base.pm

anyone have any ideas? It seems to be centered around this:

bless\$out,XML::RSS;

based on this error:

Bareword "XML::RSS" not allowed while "strict subs" in use at -e line 1.

I am just starting the baking process...just finished the "engineering" piece of the project. All of the track is laid out and the support system is in place for the 14", 10" and 6" cake parts. Once the cake is in the oven I've got about 65 min or so to figure out how I am going to "frost" the mountain. I am leaning twords the marshmallow idea but may need to just use a good butter cream idea....I know I have a ton of chocolate work to do yet...christ this is getting out of hand.

I am really happy with the styrofome layout and support structure btw. I was also able to get both trecciles in play and both tunnels too. The train moves smothly through it all. I have only run the two enigines and one sight-seeing car through the system. Every thing clears...my only fear is that the train will derail in the tunnel and I will have to fish it out some how. I guess I will cross that when it happens. I am going to take a quick break and get a refill on my soda and come back and start the madness....

hope I don't wake christy.

FEDEX is a big pile of dooky! I can see that the packages I have ordered have arrived and are at the sorting facility. I would like both packages to be held for pickup at said facility. But some some genius at Ingram Micro wants the attempted delivery first before I can pick them up at the airport. So some things I have learned from my endevors:

1. CompUSA will charge you 18.00 for 2-day air and not get it to you for 5 days
2. Apple will ship it to you for free; use the same 2-day air service but it will still take five days.
3. Both Apple and CompUSA use Ingram Micro to handle thier product distribution.

I believe that both companies need to put a foot in the ass of Ingram for this failure to meet a delivery schedule.

oh, and did I mention that these orders are for the same product?

ACK! What a day. I have had my monitor going off like crazy all day. I am just exhausted and really haven't done anything but see a Doctor all day.

I met with my Pulmonologist today and the good news is there is nothing really wrong with my lungs that would be causing the symptoms I am experiencing. The bad news is that the symptoms all points to a very rare condition that is called Pheochromocytoma AKA "10% tumor". Basically it means that my adreanal glands have been stuck on overdrive and I am jucing on adrenaline and noradrenaline (epinephrine and norepinephrine) all the time. For those of you that haven't been following this odyssey I have been experiencing for the last few months:

Elevated heart rate
Palpitations
Anxiety (often resembling that of a panic attack)
Diaphoresis
Headaches
Pallor
Weight loss
Night sweats
Dizzy
Passing out

I am still awaiting further testing at this point but this seems to fit the bill for what I have been experiencing here. If this turns out to be what I have then treatment seems pretty straight forward. Cut the bugger out. Back to the wait and see for now.

Here is an interesting resource for further reading:

Its here! F@#K YEAH!

I just happen to check my apple.com and saw a tracking number. I clicked it and it said that the laptop had been signed for. Holy Crap...I found the box tucked under the counter at the front of the office. Quivering delight ran over me...it was very magical moment. I open the box and there it is in all its magical glory.

A brand new working Apple MacBook Pro 17" in all its shiny new glory! Hit the power button...ding! it says and the cool little Apple logo shows. I am now 100% farther then I have ever been with this product...

At this present point it is using its firewire port to transfer all of my data from the Pismo....yeah! I am so excited....

...a shoe makers kids are barefoot? Yeah, thats it..I think the same applies to IT people. All of my tools today took a dump...couldn't get to my laptop over the network (I did something to it to make it super secret and unresponsive to the script kiddies while at the coffee shops) and am having to sneaker net files via portable hard drive. As I was cleaning up some other issues, I hurriedly opened a file from email and was infected with a very nice and pesky trojan that completely screwed up my morning. I have finally removed it and all traces of the file it came from. I am just now sitting down to respond to a contract request and schedule a new client meeting for tomorrow...today has just gotten out of hand. I need back the last 4hrs....ack!

So, 1.5hrs on the phone with customer no service at Amazon.com and finally get out of them all that they are going to do. Return the money in exchange for the damaged item. BLAGH! Bastards....

Called Apple and I'm on the phone and for the next 48 min. I am initially passed from tech support to customer relations. Nice guy at Customer Relations...he actively listens to what I had to say, clued in on the issues I was having and had a solution by the end of our call.

So, the solution is:

1. Apple will replace the missing software disk.
2. Apple will fix the broken laptop per warranty service.
3. Apple will be speaking to Amazon.com about selling broken and defective Apple products as refurbish.

I have to ship my laptop back to Apple Service Depot and should have it in 5-7 days time.

I guess thats the best I am going to get out of this go around of "storming the castle" as Christy says.

sssooooooooooooo pissssssssed off right now I am having a hard time typing this.

I received the uber cool macbook pro today. Cursory glance said all was there. Got back to the office and fired it up...gray screen, no apple logo....mmmm OK, maybe they shipped it without the OS and I need to install the OS. Open the software package and find that its missing all of the re-install disks...oh and iLife 06 too. Shit, open my Apple Care and call Apple directly. The response was that the laptop is DOA and needs to be replaced. Whats my Apple Store order number? OH, don't have one? OK, you need to contact the merchant that you purchased this from and deal with them.

I get off the phone and call Amazon.com directly and get a person who cannot speak English. I spend the next 45 minutes phonetically spelling out the issue for the person so that he can send an email to the CS rep of the merchant on Amazon.com and the CS rep for Amazon itself. He then tells me that someone will be in touch with me in 24-48 hrs.

This is F@#$ing hell.

So, as my BIG. WILD. LIFE. is happening... I will be traveling the 28th to Bakersfield, CA to attend a Jet Model Aircraft event. I have started doing layout and design work for a local magazine here in Anchorage, AK that is the only US publication to produce a product that covers this type of hobby. It is has been a real blast so far...yes I know deadlines and what not are going to make me feel incredibly stressed...but I think I will enjoy the nature of the work.

Anyway, back to the whole traveling bit, I will be going down to photograph, write and meet folks at this event and spend a lovely 4 days in Central California watching model aircraft zoom about at 200+mph...neat. Coming home though is going to be a goat rope. I leave Sunday from Bakersfield, CA and land in San Francisco, CA...spend the night. Hope a flight to Las Vegas, NV to catch a flight to Anchorage, AK.

So, its been a while since I was in San Francisco overnight...anyone have any suggestions as to what I could possibly do to entertain myself for about 12hrs?

So sitting in a clients office listening to the chatter around me I heard a great tip for potty training boys. Besides the normal "teach them to sit down option" there is the trick of using cheerios as targets. Thought it was amusing to hear and had to note it some were....

SO, what are your favorite potty training ideas?

OK, if I had the opportunity to kick the shins of the SOB's who wrote the DST change into effect I would. WHAT a PIA...today, I have updated 3 SQL servers, Exchange Server, Several WIN2k3, Win2k0 and Linux servers, 12 Web Applications code base, Symantec's Backup Exec and AntiVirus, Linux Server, 18 OSX Apple System...(some using 10.2-10.4...don't get me started on this issue....Jesus! FREAKING JAVA!!!! AAAUUUGGGGHHH!)

I have started to just triage stuff with the knowledge that I will have to be very diligent next week and see what breaks.

So, what have you had to update today? Have you looked at your smart phone, Tivo, wireless router, MS Office, OS, or any other myriad of devices and applications you use to organize your modern life?

For a list of what manufactures might be effected take a look at : http://dstpatch.com/
