We are four beautiful ladies who as children only saw the majesty of double dutch as kids, but never partook in the fun. We all learned
from a book 3 years ago and haven't picked up a book since. We like
to think of ourselves along the lines of Abraham Lincoln, Nikolai
Rimsky-Korsakov the self-taught Russian composer, and Joan Miro the
Spanish surrealist artist who taught himself to sculpt. We always wanted to have an edgy, bad girl part to our double
dutch. All the organized double dutch we read about had slogans
like"Jump over Drugs and into Fitness"--slogans we just couldn't
stand behind. At our first show, we knew we weren't good enough to
have just our double dutch be enough. Our original idea was to write
dirty rhymes and jump to them. Learning hard tricks and writing
rhymes ended up taking too much time, so we just concentrated on the
tricks. The prisoner schtick was invented for the first show and the
theme idea was to forever be a part of our show. As far as what excites us about double dutch, they are a few
parts. One is just being out in the park in the afternoon getting
some exercise. Also it is a great challenge to watch some crazy
trick (or think of one on our own) and figure it out together.
Everyone has to do something very specific or the trick doesn't work.
It's also very exciting to be able to do most anything we want with
double dutch. Our movie Flextacy was fun to make and really gave us
a chance to show our best side: our asses. Going to Portland and
meeting other teams was definitely one of the most exciting and
inspiring things we've ever had the pleasure to do. Most important,
though, are the screaming fans along with an excuse to wear matching
slutty outfits and throw Depends at people. It's hard to beat that
kind of satisfaction. Oh yeah, and it helps us get laid.
