My Testimonials

May 30, 2007
Dr Placebo came into my life unexpectedly, bringing a rideshare, sarongs, songs, ice cream and a shoulder to cry on. What a singularly wonderful man.
Respectful, patient, incurably wonderful. Talented musician. Deep thinker. Dreamer. I am so pleased to know you.
My life has been changed for the better simply because you are my friend.

Dr. P is a special guy... he has this gentle, calming energy, and a wicked sense of humour that has won me over. It's fun to get to know people after you met them in BED. ;)

Dr. Placebo is a smart and devoted servant of all that is good. He and his love partner Mary run workshops on intimate partnerships as spiritual practice. He gives tirelessly of his time and energy to the Bureau of Erotic Discourse (B.E.D.). A man quietly committed to helping humans evolve, he is intelligent, funny, kind, and wise. He makes life more centered and hopeful than it was before.

about me
I'm not such a bad guy once I get to know me.

That he is mad, 'tis true: 'tis true 'tis pity;
And pity 'tis 'tis true: a foolish figure;

-- Hamlet, act 2, scene 2

“Forgiveness is the name of love practiced among people who love poorly. The hard truth is that all of us love poorly. We need to forgive and be forgiven every day, every hour –unceasingly. That is the great work of love among the fellowship of the weak that is the human family. ”

-- Henri Nouwen

If you knew how many people love you, then you would have no fear. [Unknown]

Irregular Thoughts

I'm anxious. What if I forget something?

I'm exhilarated. What miracle will occur there?

I'm harried. Why is there never enough time?

I'm sighing. Why does this event move me to tears?

I'm resentful. Why is it so far and so much work?

I'm hopeful. What will I learn this time?

I'm going. I'm going. I'm going.

I've been to FM 2008, BM 2008, and a bunch of other places, and I've neglected to blog at all. It's been a good year. I have everything I need and then some. I do not know how I came by such bounty, because I know people with less who deserve it more.

OK, here's a little tidbit I recently ran across, thanks to www.dailykos.com. Apparently, there are conservatives who think that Stephen Colbert is a serious conservative:

Despite being old enough to know better I remain an optimist. It is not because I feel that everything has been good, or is good, or will be good. It's more because I desire things to be better and I find that optimism is the most practical way to get there.

Being a pessimist is a form of laziness. It enables one to sit on the sidelines and moan about how awful it all is, and how much worse it will become. "Why bother?" the pessimist asks. And by taking that attitude the pessimist be... read more

The Placebo Effect

ID, creationism, teaching, and small gods (in Burning Man) "Intelligent design" is just creationism dressed up with misleading language in an attempt to evade the appearance of teaching religion in public schools. At least you get credit for owning your biblical roots.

Re: OT - Why Sexual promiscuity and drug use go hand in hand with Evolution and Atheism (Paganism) (in Burning Man) Since I'm married and monogamous for over 25 years, and I don't use drugs or alcohol, and I do think that evolution is accurate, and I definitely am not a xtian, I have to claim a counterexample.

Even if you were correct about Huxley (which I d... read more

Re: Appology and my closing arguments. (in Burning Man) I don't always agree with fko, and even in this case I don't agree with his proposed action, but I think that his analysis of the creationists is dead on. They want to muddy the water so that people think that there is some substantial doubt abou... read more

Re: Atheist illogic refuted (in Burning Man) "Evolution encompasses a vast amount of disinformation."

Sorry, you must be thinking of Fox News.

Evolution is a scientific theory, which means that it can be tested against observations. So far it meets the tests rather well.
