about me
I find these things tiresome, so usually I just slap a couple quotes or poems in and promptly ignore it.
I'm Bay Area-born and bred; excepting a couple years in Madison and Beloit Wisconsin, I've lived here all my life (in the same house, no less. Retch).
I adore cats but dogs make me nervous.
I've loved reading since I learned in kindergarten/first grade. I generally prefer fantasy and historical settings.
I should have at least a shodan (black belt, first degree), but I don't. I studied Danzan Ryu Jujitsu for nearly ten years, until college applications and end of high school stuff ate me. While I miss it, I've mixed feelings about returning to my old dojo and a perhaps overdeveloped sense of loyalty (plus laziness and poverty) mean I haven't looked seriously for a new one.
Speaking of college, I'm taking the road less traveled. Its population includes rabid purple wombats with respawn capabilities reminiscent of the Hydra.
I enjoy pen and paper RPGs and LARPing (with the right group), but most of my contacts for that live in other time zones.
I enjoy drinking just about anything that's not beer. I keep tasting beers to see if there's any I can enjoy (Progress: Wheat beers and Belgians are least objectionable).
I only speak English and French, but I've a long list of languages I plan to learn when the opportunity arises. Swedish, Gaelic, and Middle English currently top that list.
At the time this edit, it's early summer and I'm in the lull between Valhalla (and other early summer Faires) and the beginning of workshops for Northern Faire at Casa de Fruta. This will be my second season with St. Helenas, though I worked another big Faire in a (now defunct) Celtic guild in 2006.
A number of my friends call me Satyr (after the mode of those in Changeling: the Dreaming for the gaming geeks), but that reflects my words and persona (at least in that group) more than my actions. I'm nearly always convinced this is a good thing.
