about me
I started taking ballet and tap dance lessons when I was three-years old. One of my favorite costumes was a pink nightgown and pink ruffled cap for my Wee-Willie Winkie dance. My mom made that costume for me, and I wore it as a nightgown until it turned almost white from washing and I finally outgrew it.
As I grew up, I added jazz and modern dance classes and moved from a "just for fun-" style dance instructor to a hard-core former professional dancer as my instructor. I worked with her for several years until I had to choose between academics and dance. Knowing I'd never be a professional dancer, and entirely dependant on my brains, I chose academics at about 15-years old. In the years to follow, I really missed dance. Finally, in January 2005, my friend Hannah invited me to join her in trying out a belly dance class. I had always been intrigued by belly dance, so I agreed. My friend ended up moving, but I was hooked. Belly dance is the fabulous combination of moving my body, costumes and jewelry. Belly dance forever!
