In my work as a female shaman, I must always work with a more, pre-history understanding to make sense of symbols from my ancient grandmothers original meanings to apply to my work, otherwise current understandings over the past 3000 years make no sense to me in how I experience my work as a shaman healer. In neolithic and paleolithic times, lithic meaning 'stone', neo meaning 'new' and paleo meaning 'old' refers to our remembrance when we lived, did healing work and performed sacred ceremonies as cave women The Uraeus was one of our ancient living healing spirits and was called upon when a shaman woman was in a healing ritual with a group. The oldest shamans on the planet did not use drug plants but worked with the mother earths spirit and her animals, serpents and avian primordial spirits to facilitate healing energy through the shamans power, grounded enough to hold such energy power along with the healing power of our psychic connection as women to mother earth which could never be completely eradicated or totally suppressed or taken over by the repression of grandmothers's mysteries.

Used as a symbol of sovereignty, Wadjet the Uraeus represented her royalty, deity and divine authority and its long lost original 'Spirit" that once was present by the Spirit Wadjet herself- wjp long left the earth over the past two thousand years, mainly because the Pharaohs used her for personal gain and personal power. Mother earths cobra thus abandoned her relationship to grandmother. Uraeus is a Greek word which has its origins in ancient Egyptian, meaning "She who rears up" and originated from the grandmother into the goddess cults and then into paganism. Those spiritual women shamans who called upon Wadjet, who is a real living spirit in the form of a serpent totem still to this day manifesting as a cobra of those who remember her before the patriarch rose through Egypt.

In my own personal work since I am a collective shaman, I have had the ecstatic privilege to work with Wadjet and other primordial spirits. The first time she appeared in one of my group soul retrievals was back in the late nineties when I was new. I had no teachers so I cautiously took one step at a time guided by mother earth and her spirits such as Wadjet who taught me so much, I was astounded and shocked by Wadjet's powerful appearance compared to Buddhist masters who would appear in the flesh and in spirit. Humans were the only cmparrison during those days and I've soon learned that the animals, avians and animal worlds were much more powerful in spirit.

At one particular group soul retrieval during the winter solstice, Wadjet was working with one young woman who I traveled into her journey and I saw her on a bed falling to the deep ocean and then underneath the ocean bound by chains around her wrists. I realize right now as I am writing this, back then I did not have the skill, nor the power to go get her back then, and Wadjet had to show me how it was done. When the journey was over and we were all sharing, this young woman, frightened, said: "I kept hearing and sensing a cobra next to me, but when I opened her eyes a few times, there was nothing there." The young woman pushed back her long white sleeve shirt for the group to see and she had tattooed on both wrists a circle of chains. She shared with us that when she was ten her brother in the bedroom below hers tried to commit suicide and the bullet went through her bed while she was sleeping and she woke up. A classic soul retrieval. She never did return to my circle, meaning, she never did go get her ten year old spirit in that ocean. Maybe Wadjet retrieved it for her and I couldn't see that deep into the dream back then.

The Cobra became the patron of the Delta, Lower Egypt, and so was worn by the Pharaohs as a head ornament, in effect part of the crown claiming all healing power from the Queens, Priestesses and Grandmothers, and as a claim over the land. There is evidence for this even in the Old Kingdom (3rd millennium BCE). The pharaoh was seen as a manifestation of the sun-god Re, and in my wisdom of a shaman who has traveled back into the past through the dream portals, they used Uraeus as a spirit slave in order to protect the Pharaohs power and wealth and like black magic us it on their enemies. In some mythological works, the 'eyes' of Re are said to be Uraei. Now that woman will soon reclaim all her gifts with mother earth as the shifts enter deeper into the 2030's, our original co-creators for community, clan will be restored to proper shaman grandmothers utilizing the love with mother earths sovereigns such as Wadget and her sister Nehkbet, the vulture or what is known in Peru as the spirit of the Condor.

There are two levels of Uraeus, the Shamans Uraeus and the Golden Uraeus. I have been blessed to have experienced both quite a few times. Last winter solstice my apprentices and I did a death ceremony in the snow and during the middle of the ceremony, when my apprentice was doing a death dance, eight golden Uraeus Cobra's larger than I had ever seen came from all over the forest to encircle us. I was in a shamanic trance and could see and they were like primordial golden cobra's that were huge, at least the length of a tall tree. Each one had come for us to participate.

Prior to the 1922 find of Tutankhamun's tomb, this Golden Uraeus was the only ornament ever known to be worn by a Pharaoh and it carried the intended energy of healing. Tuja who was Tutankhamun's grandmother was responsible not only for all the shamans and her priestesses but also the 300,000 year unbroken lineage until Ahknaten murdered her grandson Tutankamun in which the ancient thugs started their Pharoah lineages demoralizing and repressing the original shamans rituals by women and grandmothers, banned from Egypt and earth everywhere.

The Golden Uraeus crown and its scepter were made of solid gold, black eyes of granite, a snake head of deep "ultramarine" lapis lazuli, the flared cobra hood of dark carnelian inlays, and also inlays of turquoise.

Uraeus, as Hieroglyph

After the healing powers of the Uraeus were gone and abandoned, it was then the Cobra Wadjet was only an ornamental, being used as a "Statuary", or as an adornment on the pharaoh as a symbol of victory over the Goddess, it was also used for jewelry and in amulets. However another important usage is as the Hieroglyph. The simplest hieroglyph is the "Cobra" (the Uraeus), however there are subcategories, referring to: goddess, priestess, the goddess Mehnit, shrine of goddess (àter), goddess Isis, and lastly goddess: (Cobra (uraeus) at base of God (ntr) which slowly faded completely.

The Rosetta Stone which was the original and first tax laws, uses the plural of the last example, "3-God 'Flags' with Cobra at each base of flag ". The story of the Rosetta Stone has the Pharaoh listing His reasons for being honored, and in return, "The Gods reward Him". The last (2/3) of the Rosetta Stone relates how He will be honored without her, including erecting the Rosetta Stone for all to read. Another example of the hieroglyph usage, is as adornments upon the hieroglyph for "shrine" itself, and also for 'buildings'.

* And Wadjets main Symbolism is: Transformation through letting go and surrender of the Rebirth Medicines- the snake sheds its skin and grows new skin; shedding the old, new growth. In pre-Pharaoh times snakes were associated with Goddess, rain and fertility symbolism.

Around the Slavic Nations of Bohemia, Siberia, Poland, Ukraine, and others, during the time period of 6500 BCE. Snake and Bird Goddesses were inseparable in shamanic work. because Bird represents dream flight such as astral travel, dream walking and dreamtime, along with the serpent healing and is necessary for working with Mother Earths helpers unlike today where many humans connect with humans rather than power animal spirits. Both were associated with grandmothers teachings of the Great Cosmic Egg, from which came forth the Universe through the mirror of a womans womb.

Symbols associated with Grandmother, Goddesses were dots, lines, shapes, and mazes. All of these dream symbols are water and rain representing the emotional body which is the domain of dreaming, intuition, working beyond the physical in the spiritual worlds. These primal animal deities were for survival for crops and migration purposes. Such symbols appear on pottery. Snake Dance uses this such symbolism. It the Dance of Life, of the twining strands of DNA, of Creation, bringing rain and new growth to the Earth.

Hindu Cobra:
In Hindu the cobra is associated with Lord Shiva the 'Creator'. The cobra, a symbol of fertility, is often shown together with Shiva in stone sculptures and paintings.

Egyptian Cobra Uraeus:
Symbol of upper Egypt of new life and resurrection. Symbol of Healing with Power.

Uraeus is a real female spirit through the Egyptian snake medicines and was associated from as early as the pre-dynastic period and is often often combined with the sun disk. But before it was stolen, it was always association with the moon disk, and even thought the image of what we have left to see, some misinterpretation of the plain circle for the sun in a solar dominated science of archeology rather than its true round disc of the lunar healing medicines of woman. Sekhmet, who is a lion-headed goddess carrying the lunar disk and uraeus above her head and even though she is a solar goddess, she represents in her image as a protective function of women's mysteries making the once thought of solar disc above her head as invalid and the true symbolism of her as protectress of the lunar symbol above her head because the scenes come from the Book of the Dead, associating Uraeus with the underworld and the Emotional body called the Soul.

A gilded wooded cobra called netjer-ankh ("living god") was found in the tomb of Tutankhamon. It is representative of the cobra's associations with the afterlife and the sex, death, rebirth medicines of his grandmothers lineage. In funerary the cobra is often depicted spitting fire linking it to the world Fire Goddesses of Kali, Hecate, Bridgid and Vesta and hundreds more. Fire goddesses are the life force energy of the spirit body which communicates directly to the soul and in turn the soul sends its images to the mind and mind interprets into language. Since the grandfather or sun god took over all language of interpreting womans symbols the meanings of todays books and works by authors are completely reversed.
