about me
Dress Up Alice is about having fun with clothes. About bring your inner characters out, feeling beautiful and being expressive. Feeling confident to wear fun clothes any time for any reason in any place. The truth: you have a great body and now you've found great clothes to dress it in.
I started sewing clothes with my mother when I was a toddler. I grew up making costumes, pants, skirts and dresses for school and well any time. Later I created dance costumes and other costumes for friends. I was always dressing up at any opportunity I had! Later I discovered in Portland there was a reconstucted clothing scene and I jumped in to see what I could do. I had fun with punk rock fashion shows we would throw together and street fairs in the summer.
In the past year my goals have changed. I am now committing myself full time to my clothing line. I have left my amazing and incredibly fun career as a bar tender and mixologist for the last 8 years. To...well....sit home and SEW! I'm feeling full of creative energy and excitement to see where this all takes me at the same time making my dreams reality.
I currently have my clothing line, Dress Up Alice, in Dragonlily on Hawethorne; www.dragonlily.org/, and Radish Underground downtown Portland; www.radishunderground.com/ and Union Rose; www.unionrosepdx.com/. I am also on FaceBook. Hope to see you dressing up!

Spring is here and so is our crazy NW weather.
It feels so energizing to have rain for our starts in the garden and sun to cheer us up from a long winter. And! a moment to switch up our wardrobe.

The Equinox is a time to shed our winter ways and blossom to new life.
Celebrate yourself with a dress from Dress Up Alice

Each and every piece I make is unique. It makes the dress you get special and one of a kind. Sometimes I purchase fabric that I will never find again, some of the fabrics are vintage and some I stumble apon in the oddest of places. When I creat a piece I love adding little trims on hems or buttons here and there to give it character. Stiching has been a fun and creative way to make something stand out as well. Other times the little details are all yours alone placed in the lining, a small applique or beading no one else might ever notice or see. With this idea I hope to creat a look that is appealing to almost anyone. Sewing with a mix of different fabircs from modern, fancy, casual to funky, heavy, light to in-between. I get to meddle in different pots, so to say. Putting together a new personality each time. I have so many differnt moods I would feel stuck just keeping to one type. Hopefully I will catch your eye with that secific one you have never seen before, will never see again and is as UNIQUE as you!
