Hello Everyone,

A lil' update auf der Dr in Deutschland.

Berlin is nothing like what I had expected -- mellow, friendly, and creatively anarchic where I had expected uptight, exacting, and cold. The sun sets at 10:30 pm and rises at 3am, the weather is warm and people hang around in outdoor cafes and bars at all hours. So they loved us and we made it to the semi-finals, the last 24 inventors of the thousands who auditioned -- but then when the show aired we were cut out of it except for a 15-second flash. They showed us among the FINAL 24 with fanfair, but did not show any of our semi-final appearance, then they had the gall to announce, "Well, that was the final 24!" assuming, apparently correctly, that Americans can't count that high.

a little history:

Boing! can trace its origins back to rolling on the floor with other Stanford students learning how to let go of all the heavy brainwork required by my physics thesis project, opening to the immediate, intuitive qualities of Contact Improvisational dance. I got into CI dance in a roundabout way, starting with karate in high school, moving on to kung fu, eclectic sparring, and boxing in college, then fencing in grad school.
