I was reading the webcomic Player Vs. Player, (www.pvponline.com) as I am wont to do at this time on a Friday afternoon, despite my bosses not thinking it's the best use of my time. The artist (Scott Kurz) posted a special comic and blog entry in remembrance of his beloved basset hound, who died. (yesterday or this morning) I've never met Scott Kurz. I've never met Kirby (the dog). But yet t... read more

At this age: both of my parents had already buried their fathers. Helps me to appreciate that mine's still around. Both of my parents had mouths full of crowns. Not surprising that I need one, then, and helps me appreciate that at least I made it this age before needing one. M... read more
So, the holidays always remind me of the Muppets. There are many reasons for this, but here are the ones I think are the most prevalent:

•The closing of the Muppet Show had a symbol on it that always looked to me like a ribbon on a present. •My favorite Christmas special ever was the Muppet Family Christmas, which aired… 1985? 1986? It's been released on DVD, but not in its entirety, which is a damn shame. I watched the "recorded off television" version so much that I nearly have it memori... read more
My dog had to be put down on Saturday. I know you're looking at the picture and thinking "That's a cat, dummy." Physiologically yes, he was a cat. He was a LOUSY cat… great dog, though.

The fierce independence everyone expects from a cat – he had zero of it. He was fiercely DEpendent. Slave to his routine as well. He knew my routine well enough that he would wake me if I forgot to set the alarm. It wasn't that he was my shadow, he would lead me through my morning routine, one step ahead wh... read more

Geek is the guy you need to pay to fix your computer. Intellectual is the douchebag boss from Harvard who earns 4 times your salary but couldn't do half your job. Th... read more discussion post on Tue, November 3, 2009 - 2:00 PM
Re: Week 44

Heh… I've totally lost track of everything. Not really watching what I eat. Haven't even checked my measurements in 2 months… and that used to be the thing that I did religiously, even when I didn't weigh!
I don't know what's going on with me. discussion post on Tue, November 3, 2009 - 1:58 PM

Canela, at Hulu.com, you should be able to watch The Colbert Report from October 26, 2009.

Watch last night's The Colbert Report. State of Washington, lifted an allowance for same-sex civil whatevers (not marriage) because of petitions – or something I didn't really understand. When people demanded to see the signatures on the petition ...
