<div>-- still sick
+++ amazing weekend! (new CD's from CD Exchange, wonderful party for a departing friend, Night of Dread, Urban Golfing, Halloween-themed Pedestrian Sunday in Kensington)
--- more sick now b/c of amazing weekend....
++ rehearsals moving fwd for new non-fire act
- not yet done with music and rehearsal schedule and final casting issue for new Latin-themed fire show. Got behind from being sick last week. Also finding it harder than I thought to ride that line between "recognizable" and "expecting the waiter to swing by with chips and salsa and ask for your margarita orders...."
-- not wanting to have to clean house, despite it being a huge mess right now
++ have happy problem of figuring out which acts to do for Tuesday and Friday night's shows
++ Lunacy Cabaret, Halloween edition! That I am not in this time and can, thus, just sit back and enjoy!
+++ Best husband ever -- taking care of my sick ass, feeding me, nestling me in blankets and generally making sure I get better soon!</div>

<div>What's been up with me:

+++ Been doing more fire!
--- Been sick with allergies and stuff for over two weeks
+++ Getting all excited about HoopPath retreat!
++ Getting all excited about NYC trip in August! (I'll be more excited when it's closer)
+ Getting all excited about moving in August, too! (scared + excited or it'd rank higher)
+++ Falling in love with the fire staff, after being way more of a poi-yeur for years and years.
-- Getting tons of learning-curve bruises from the staff.
+++ Starting to get the groove of some contact basics.
++ Got good ideas for new fire eating torch-making &amp; new parasol making
--- Too broke to buy supplies for new tools that I wanna build until next week
+++ Urban Golfing is gonna be *awesome* this season!
--- Scheduling conflicts are delaying things like route planning to Urban Golfing and I am starting to stress about that
+++ weather finally nice enough to hoop outside again today without being damp and cold
+/- Realizing that I stress too much (plus b/c at least I am more aware of it. minus b/c it's still stress)
+++ Did I mention getting excited about the HP retreat?!?
-- Still no word on scheduling for next sideshow school intensive
+/- Craving spice cake with candied bacon... (plus b/c dude it's amazing; minus b/c I have to wait until next week to make it)
--- Feeling *really* uninspired on character-creation for a performance this Sunday. *furrows brow and then recalls that "stressing too much" item above* *goes to hoop on the deck for a while instead of worrying about it*

<div>Spent the last three days relaxing by the pool at the in-law's place, eating BBQ, drinking rum drinks and generally having a fabulously relaxing time.

They also got us a really lovely wedding gift: a cutlery set and a cookware set, both of which were sorely needed. I cannot wait to use them! Must cooooook sooomething!!

On a totally unrelated note:

Perseids + new moon on August 12th!! I have something to do that afternoon, but I want VERY much to go to Toronto Islands in the evening for meteor-watching. Bring a flask, it's time for once again BOOZE AND SCIENCE!

Check out the NASA article on the night's forecast:

I'll post a facebook event and the link here later. Unless it is cloudy that night, I must go to the Islands! I vote we camp out, too, if possible.</div>

dammit dammit dammit... - even more reason to wanna be on-Playa this year - theme camp idea for "next year"

<div>Well, the umbrella frame I was about to deconstruct for the fire parasol just got me back, and but good, for wanting to take it apart--up at the top of the mechanism that keeps it open when its open are a few parts that are not at all easily replaceable and are made of freaking PLASTIC. Um...that ain't gonna work. I do not want the parts that are keeping the thing open and not falling down on my head to be made of cheap, way-meltable plastic.

Fucking umbrella frame...

Well, to be honest, part of me did not want to take this particular umbrella apart anyway, as it was used in our wedding.

So, back to square one: find usable frame...blast it. Maybe I'll just use this heap of wick to make a fire hoop and say screw the fucking parasol. Nah, I want one way too much for that.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Mutaytor is returning to Burning Man and will ROCK THE PLAYA! *cries*
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Over in the Burning Man tribe, there is a discussion going on about how to find one's way home with 45.5 miles of roads to get lost on this year. Now, I have never had trouble finding my way home (well, there was that one night in '04, but that another story...) One guy mentioned someone in his camp giving out laminated cards with simple maps on them that people could wear to help them find their way home.

That so reminds me of the day kids start school and they leave home with a note pinned on them with their name and age and class/teacher's name written on it. So cute!

Makes me wanna design some little laminated cards up that look like those mom-notes, but with the pertinent camp info...I also wanna break into everyone's tents, then, and write their name in Sharpie on the tags of all their clothes, like kids going off to summer camp for the first time! These would all be great things to do for the theme I wanna do "next year" called Camp Whattahoochie, modeled after summer caps of yore, complete with "craft time", camp intramurals, etc. I want my Counselor name to be "Whattahoochie Mama".</div>

<div>Our sister-in-law has some rather sad business to deal with back home, so we canceled our trip out to visit them this week. I am partly disappointed, as it would have been nice to see them and get out of the city for a few days, but also partly relieved, as we are very cash poor and it shall likely be a lot cheaper to stay here in town.

And, yes, the day before we are supposed to be hopping on the train out there *is* a little late to be finding out that we're not going, but it was not their fault in the least. I'll leave that alone for now...

Anyway, this does also mean I have time to work on the fire parasol version one! I shall try to get it done in time for New Model Circus Army on Wednesday so I can have the first test there. The handle won't be done yet, but the basic frame modification (which I was procrastinating on once I got sick) and the wicking of it will be complete by the end of the week, if not by Wednesday.

Also, I need to get a birthday gift knitted up pretty quick, here! (Secret; can't tell yet!)</div>

<div>Ding-dong, the rat is dead!

We snap-trapped the little fucker that ate our zucchini plants (utterly devastated them), as well as noshed on the beans and killed one of my lobelia and the morning glory.

I hate doing that kinda shit to anything, but it died FAST (I heard it happen; I was in the kitchen at the time) and, dude, don't fuck with my food.

Mad props to the husband unit for dealing with the remains.

In other news, I am not sick anymore. We are still going to the in-law's for the week, though. Be back in the city sometime Friday, though, and then to Toronto Islands on the 21st for the day. If anyone wants to join us for that, ping me and I'll send you the details. We coulda gone out yesterday, but it ended up rainy and we both needed a downtime day.

Man, I gotta say, reading about various people's Burning Man prep really has me wishing it was in the cards for us to go this year. I was fine with it earlier in the year, being so busy and all, but now that I have tons of free time to myself, the lure of the Playa, a unresolvable draw once again, is getting stronger. It soon shall pass...once everyone goes and comes back, I'll be fine. The decomps will start to happen and the cycle will start again.

*sigh* Okay, gotta go buy coffee, as we are out and this black tea just did not do it for me...</div>

Please to be not driving 5 mph *under* the speed limit in the far left lane or I will run you over.

Fuck you very much,
Liz
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Dear Annoying Staffing Agency/Candidate Farm:

Thanks ever so much for the pleasure of meeting you, wasting nearly two hours of my time and nine dollars in downtown parking, and so blatantly underinforming the people walking in your door while overbooking the asshats who pretend to look for jobs for people. It was a great time, you leech-ass shits!

You are a prime example of the bourgois vermon living off the backs of the actual working classes. Expect a firebomb from heaven if God ever wakes up and starts paying attention. May you spend eternity being assraped by demons.

Fuck you, you fucking fucks.

Yours always,

Um, enough already, ya?

Liz

Dearest darling Amanda in LA:

It was my deepest regret to have to inform you earlier that I am indeed back in this backwater land of slow traffic called Seattle and thus had to turn down a TV spot gig you had lined up for me.

With any hope, I'll be back in LA sooner rather than later...keep me in your thoughts and my number in your Rolodex!

With love,
