ok my chance to boast about a fish people just bitch about! the asain carp...ok sure its an invasive alien fish that escaped from some farm ponds and now has spread to a huge chunk of our natural water ways and it reproduces really fast...but lets think for a second did you know that the salmon were introduced to the Great Lakes? thats right not a natural fish and now they are the leading fish + a million dollar fishing charting industry hmmm most of our rivers are stocked with trout from other places and most rivers now dont have "original strains" of fish in them. they are all stocked and some reproduce from there...anyhow to everyone that says Asain carp should be poisoned...or netted or destroyed they sure have not had one of these amazing fish stretching their line before...but they will because they cant be controlled or stopped just like the zebra mussel or goby...they are here to stay and trust me they are one hell of an amazing fish to fight and on my honor i can tell you that they are an absolutely fantastic table fare! and no i dont eat common carp- the asain carp is just like our paddle fish and i mean that it is a filter feeder- eats only plankton - and anyone that has eaten a paddlefish can certainly tell you that they taste great. so next time you come accross one of these give them a try! oo yeah special side note about these fish - yes they are the ones that you see on TV jumping at people and into there boat...imagine hooking into something that jumps like that! all i can say is hold on tight - this 65 pounder took me a one solid hour to land!
