American Frame Drum Gathering Asheville May 2008

Had such a wonderful fun time at the frame drum gathering in beautiful Asheville, NC Here is a link to some photos of the workshops. http://www.flickr.com/photos/yveadams/ The workshops and presenters were really great! It included warm up excercises to relax , and hand stretches to prevent carpal-tunnel. Presenters shared warm up drum excercises and also had handouts to share. We had space to jam and share thoughts about the medicinal affects of drumming. The Cooperman folks brought frame drums for use and for purchase. The presenters gave demonstrations on the different styles, and techniques of the various family of frame drums. The concert was a blast. The Womens Lotus Drum group invited me and Lyn to join in as the opening music, which was a delight. The women bring in a beautiful sacred element. It was great to have a feminine presence in the concert. I also shared a solo inspired by my studies with Alessandra Belloni and later David Kuckhermann, an amazing frame drummer from Germany joined me on another piece with me. Each act was unique, and it soon grew into a rocking dancing scene with flamenco guitar and clapping. It was great to spend each evening with all the teachers at Rivers home. River did a great job organizing and hosting this special event. I grew to love Asheville in a very short time and all the people are so warm and friendly. I was so happy to connect to the women who also studied with Layne Redmond. I even reconnected with Shelli, who took some of the same intensives with me many years ago. I think Asheville, is a place I will visit again.

Message from a shamanic drum journey 2005

I participated in a shamanic drum journey back in 2005 and I am re-visiting the message. .....the journey was an offering for the tsunami tradgedy I was on top of a cliff, surrounded by an abyss of clouds below, then Quan Yin, Yemanja, a shamaness, Mother Mary and Anandamayima floated in and i understood they were a council of Goddesses. I asked, what is the best thing we could do, in light of the tsunami tragedy and for this time period. I understood, this was the time to honor the mother and the feminine way in all its aspects. Healing all separation, on all levels. It is time to Honor the Earth, as the Mother. Intend on making connections with nature, with your surroundings and with your food. Give thanks daily for the unceasing gifts she gives in a myrid of ways. Honor all the mothers children on earth: the men, the women, the children and the elders. Honor creation as your relatives: trees, plants, flowers, fruit, vegetables, grasses, the lakes, the rivers, the oceans, the rains, the sky, the wind, the animals, the winged creatures, the insects, the sun,moon and stars. -to honor the way of devotion and gratitude. -to have compassion -to honor the invisible realm, to remember the ancestors, the angels and celestial kingdom -to honor and share messages from dreams,meditation,and ceremony -to honor intuitions, inner wisdom, body wisdom, earth wisdom - nature as teacher, activator, and healer....waiting ever patiently
