Kind Words

March 6, 2008
Ya know how they always say, "beware the quiet types?" Yuup Brendon is one of those. Still waters run deep is another appropo saying for him. He's really quite mad in a creative sort of ubergeek fashion. I suspect there's a devious little gnome in there somewhere. After all, anyone who openly associates with Daleks, and is NOT a timelord, shouldn't be trusted. Despite all this, I am truly glad to call him a friend. He's an honorable guy, and I am the better for knowing him.

Brendon is my favorite married boyfriend. I've tried to convince him to ditch the wife and kids, but no doing--the guys got too much integrity. Perhaps if I recited Scarlett's tempting words to Ashley? "Escape?...Oh, Ashley (I mean Brendon), let's run away. We'll go to Mexico. They want officers in the Mexican army, we could be so happy there. Ashley (opps, Brendon) I'd work for you, I'd do anything for you. You know you don't love (insert his wife's name here). Can you honestly say you don't love me? It's a lie!" But no dice. Ashley doesn't fall for it either. And Scarlett's pretty hot and manipulative too, so what chance have I got? <sigh> I guess it's to plan B. I'll have to find a Rhett.

Ah well. At least I can torment him at faire. He'll be Vernon's pet wolf "Wolfie" and she'll have the power to make him do her bidding. That should please her greatly...

And Brendon's pretty handy to have around when you get all dressed up because he usually wears clothing with lots of pockets so you don't have to lug around a purse. He doesn't complain too much when I ask him to carry my lipstick, foundation, eyeliner, keys, cash, and credit cards--just don't get too close to him when you're spraying glitter, or you'll never hear the end of his dry-cleaning drama ;-P'

But overall, Brendon's a good guy to have around. He's a sweet fella and takes my laughing at his expense very well. I'm proud to call him friend. AND he actually remembers stuff I write to him in our lengthy e-mails. Plus he's really good with a sword 'cuz he's got that hero complex thing--and you never know when you'll need a good swordman...

Notes and Remembrances

Thank You Mr. Gygax

Your pen and paper game Dungeons and Dragons played a big part in directing the course my life took. I met a number of people and traveled to many places and participated in a number of events that I would not have done so other wise had I not been introduced to started playing D&D all those years ago.

In the seventh grade a good friend of mine named Jeff Baker, said I should give this roleplaying thing ago because he and a few other guys had been playing for a while... read more

Custom Lightsaber Luxeon LED saber Light Rapier

The Light Rapier is constructed with the same high-quality craftsmanship, ergonomic design, artistry, and materials that ALW is known for in their katana-based sabers. The basket styled hand guard is made from brazed carbon steel. Each steel rod is cut, heated, shaped, and brazed into place by hand. The external activator plate, internal activator housing, activator stud, and pommel ring are also made from carbon steel. The steel is then ... read more

Thanks for pointing the way to Jay Smooth's video blog. Today's entry makes more sense than I would care to admit:

Always wanted to use that line…

The lie was #1

1. Were I think Firefly/Serenity is ok as far as SciFi goes it can not hold a candle to the reimagined Battlestar Galactica or Babylon 5.

2. Two years ago at Comic Con I was staying at the Marriott Hotel that is directly connected to the convention center. Taking one of the escalators that leads back into the hotel I look up there he is Stan Lee. My exact reaction was “Oh god your Stan Lee”, from there we chatted for minute or more abo... read more
