Tonight I start my new Bellydance drills class. I've been nagged for years to do one of these, but to be honest I kind of like the artistic side of bellydance so much more than the drilling, so I tend to keep my drills for home practice and use the big halls to express myself. Anyhow this new hall has come along, and I needed to start a new beginners. Its not really worth leaving the house to just do one class, and I already do an intermediate, an advanced and a tribal in the area, so non ...

whats could be worse than writing a choreography and then finding you can't do one of the turns ?
having four of those turns all in a row ?
knowing that it looks easy so all the work going into it wont be appreciated by the audience ?
or catching your shoe on your big toe nail and lifting it off the bed !!!?
when it stops bleeding I guess I need to get back to practicing and see if my plaster sticks to the kitchen floor.
these blinking turns had better look good on the night !!!!

Nearly ready. so nearly ready, if you dont count the pile of clothes and costumes on the floor, the half done packing list, the lesson plans for my classes while I'm away and the other 20 things on my list. Thats nearly in my book !
I'm blogging on my web site www.letsbellydance.co.uk and the Ning group for my students if you want a blow by blow account. Or you can wait for the photos of me grinning like a daft one.
Today has been a list day, and while I have added lots to the botto...

That I'm doing the Brothers of the Baladi tour - www.baladi.com - and I'm mighty nervous. It doesn't help that I have a very complex day of teaching class, orthodontic appointment (not mine, I'm just the taxi), exams (again, not mine, I'm just the taxi) and a trip to a 1950's farm needing costume and bio-degradable packed lunch (you guest it - not mine...)
I picked out a dozen costume choices last night and then darling daughter looked at it all, frowned and said "don't you have anything el...

about me
Hi,
I started dancing MED in '93, and have been a full time teacher of this dance since 2000, doing around 12 classes each week. I started off with Tina Hobin, and then continued learning with Afra Al-Kahira who is still my mentor. I qualified through ASMED, am an active member of WADA, and a regular writer for Taqasim magazine. Along with Emma Pyke I founded Mersin, our performance troupe, and we host the Mersin Day of Dance twice a year to gather dancers together for a day of workshops, performance and Joy. I perform most styles, with my loves being Classical, Tribal, Modern Egyptian and Rai - I also do a mean dance on glasses ! (see my web site for photos). I teach regularly at Celebrating Dance and the Wiggle it Festival, and am in the process of setting up a student troupe, but my favourite part of the job is still teaching the beginners - I'm never going to get bored of explaining how to do a figure 8 and how it feels to reverse it !!

Sara is a really good dance teacher, i've been hooked since my first lesson, and i think that's partly because of Sara's own enthusiam rubbing off on her students.
Even when Sara has had a hectic day...and there have been a few lately (hey Sara lol), she still comes in chirpy, and happy, and gets us dancing.
I've never has a bad class, and i've never seen a newcommer not come back after their first lesson.
And i agree with the other's ...ive seen Sara perform at a few events, and she is always an inspiration to watch.
Sara's performances are sometimes serious, sometimes tongue in cheek, but always elegant, and classy.
Happy Dancing! :)

I met Sara a couple of years ago and I warmed to her immediately. What's more I met several of her students who(without prompting) told me what a warm, fun, generous teacher she is. So that can't be bad can it?
Go Sara!!

Sara, I can't believe you haven't had a testimonial written for you, yet!!!!!
Sara is a lot of fun, genuinely nice, hard-working, dedicated and a very very beautiful dancer; I know it says dance teacher on her profile, but she's a lovely performer too!
She's very experienced , with integrity and is constantly working behind the scenes, too. She is among the top dancers in the UK. Her standards are very high. ;D x
