I have been working out. Having always said I would never be a gym bunny. I am now. As I'm getting older I want to be strong and I see dancers who can do some amazing things, partly because they are strong and focused, so that has been my aim recently. My name is Sara and I go to the gym three times a week.
I mostly focus on my abs and can do a variety of strange sit up type thingies - I do one where I hang like a wonky bat and come up from there. That one is fine as long as you don't...

And tell me why two ten minute numbers and a 4 and a half group number has filled my diary for the last 6 months? nearly a week with the suitcase out in the bedroom and yet I'm still not packed !!?
I thought I would write the list at the beginning of the week so that I wouldn't have a last minute rush and while I have crossed lots of things off the top I keep adding to the bottom. Right now I have 9 painted toes...... stress !!

Hi all,
I have been working for a while on a new workshop called "Your Personal Development Plan" which helps dancers assess their level, their skills and weaknesses, their budget and available time, allowing them to set short, medium and longer term aims and objectives linked to their dancing.
I ran it as part of our Day of Dance in the summer and received very encouraging feedback, so much so that the students have asked me to repeat it this January as so many of us like to set New Yea...

Tonight I start my new Bellydance drills class. I've been nagged for years to do one of these, but to be honest I kind of like the artistic side of bellydance so much more than the drilling, so I tend to keep my drills for home practice and use the big halls to express myself. Anyhow this new hall has come along, and I needed to start a new beginners. Its not really worth leaving the house to just do one class, and I already do an intermediate, an advanced and a tribal in the area, so non ...

about me
Hi,
I started dancing MED in '93, and have been a full time teacher of this dance since 2000, doing around 12 classes each week. I started off with Tina Hobin, and then continued learning with Afra Al-Kahira. I qualified through ASMED, am an active member of WADA, and a regular writer for Taqasim magazine. I co-founded Mersin, the performance troupe, and host the Mersin Day of Dance twice a year to gather dancers together for a day of workshops, performance and Joy. I perform most styles, with my loves being Classical, Tribal, Modern Egyptian and Rai - I also do a mean dance on glasses ! (see my web site for photos). I teach regularly at Celebrating Dance and the Wiggle it Festival, and I recently set up a student troupe, but my favourite part of the job is still teaching the beginners - I'm never going to get bored of explaining how to do a figure 8 and how it feels to reverse it !!

Sara is a really good dance teacher, i've been hooked since my first lesson, and i think that's partly because of Sara's own enthusiam rubbing off on her students.
Even when Sara has had a hectic day...and there have been a few lately (hey Sara lol), she still comes in chirpy, and happy, and gets us dancing.
I've never has a bad class, and i've never seen a newcommer not come back after their first lesson.
And i agree with the other's ...ive seen Sara perform at a few events, and she is always an inspiration to watch.
Sara's performances are sometimes serious, sometimes tongue in cheek, but always elegant, and classy.
Happy Dancing! :)

I met Sara a couple of years ago and I warmed to her immediately. What's more I met several of her students who(without prompting) told me what a warm, fun, generous teacher she is. So that can't be bad can it?
Go Sara!!

Sara, I can't believe you haven't had a testimonial written for you, yet!!!!!
Sara is a lot of fun, genuinely nice, hard-working, dedicated and a very very beautiful dancer; I know it says dance teacher on her profile, but she's a lovely performer too!
She's very experienced , with integrity and is constantly working behind the scenes, too. She is among the top dancers in the UK. Her standards are very high. ;D x
