Almost everyone thinks I'm an asshole when they first meet me. That's understandable, because (a) I am unafraid of expressing contrarian viewpoints and/or elucidating unpopular truths, and (b) I never learned the "honey vs. vinegar" rule for attracting flies. But I'm actually a very friendly and forgiving person (no, really) once you get past the bleak, critical, cynical and misanthropic first impression. I'm more Mr. Pink than Mr. White. (And, no, I'm not sure if that's a good thing.) Despite my initial spikiness, I'm painfully empathetic for the downtrodden and unprofitably idealistic when it comes to cultural/creative motivations. Scenester profiteers and popularity whores deserve no quarter. Naturally cynical but also naturally diplomatic, I try to make overtures of friendship to everyone...even those who may initially seem like enemies.....
