Whatcha wanna know?

There's no place like home...

Okay, I'm not in Kansas, but I'm really glad I'm NOT on the road any more!! The family all did a caravan down to Peoria IL for my niece's college graduation, and it was quite the adventure!

Friday: Drove through the thickest fog I've ever seen! the 7 hour drive took about 9 or 10 hours and I now know the blessing of in-car navigation systems. They really pay off when you can't see road signs or offramps!

Saturday: attended graduation, a quick lunch, packed my nieces belongings in our 3 cars and hit the road again. We hit mist, then freezing rain, then snow, and decided a hotel in Cedar Rapids IA was a wise choice (we were lucky to get a room, as I hear people were holed up in Guard Armories!).

Sunday: found a moderately healthy breakfast at the motel and hit the road. I let my niece rest and drove her 91 corolla with bad wipers through blizzard conditions. It was a very exciting 9 hour drive home, but we got there, and I had lots of time to catch up with my lovely niece!

Now that Christmas is over and the elder generation safely made it back to WI, life is back to normal. I'm taking advantage of having my niece the personal trainer around for a week and getting a free trial membership at the gym. She promised to help me with a fitness test and a customized workout plan. Yay!! I've been pondering whether a gym membership is worth it, but it would help me with the second half of my weight loss journey and would definitely help. If I work my schedule right, Bungee can still get a good walk in with me so I don't feel too guilty leaving him home to exercise.

Anyway, hope you're all having a great holiday week! Have a wonderful New Year!!!
