Thank you, everyone, for your kind words! These pants are faux-fisherman's pants which can be found at an online store called "Hemp on the Hill." Bonnie got a white pair off eBay and then Beth and I promptly stormed the internet looking for our own ; >

They are NOT hemp, oddly enough--this store, which seems to be in Thailand and run by the craftspeople themselves, has a few linen pieces thrown in with a motherlode of bright quilted hemp fabrics.
