I am an uninitiated man of Afro-Franco (Creole) descent who is led spiritually to re-establish himself in the spirituality of his ancestors. I have always sought the truth in the Judeo-Christian tradition in which I grew up but when I learned of some immediate ancestors who practiced an Afro-American form of Orisha spirituality, I expanded my search to the source of it all. In spite of all I have been taught through popular myths concerning the savagery of African spirituality, I pressed on. I was led spiritually to establish an altar in my apartment and offer the Orisha light on each of their respective days. I pray for my Ori everyday before I do anything everyday. I give reverance to Olodumare, Irunmole, Orisa, and Egun as a start of each day. It is simple for me now and I am learning to feel the power in my own spirit. I feel the power of my Egungun in my blood. It is the same blood that flowed through them. I thank them for granting it to me.
