<div>There is an event called the City of Hope's Underwear Affair 10k Run/5K Walk. It is a race that you do in your underwear to raise money and awarenes for cancers "below the waist" (prostate, uterine, cervical.......). It has food, dancing and lots of people running throught the streets in their underwear! There is a Team Category (hello.....RLD....). The run is 10 km (6.2 mi) and the walk is 5 km (3.1 mi). So if you can't do one you can definately do the other. You only have to raise $300 and the entry fee is only $25. This is much less than most events. All you need is a few family members and friends to donate 40 dollars each and you are home free.

This just screams Red Light District! So please let me know who is interested. I am doing it regardless so no worries either way, but I'd love to see everyone. Here is the link:

    </a>
										<div>"One is often told that it is a very wrong thing to attack religion, because religion makes men virtuous. So I am told; I have not noticed it......
You find as you look around the world that every single progress in humane feeling, every improvement in the criminal law, every step towards the diminution or war, every step toward better treatment of the colored races, or every mitigation of slavery, every moral progress that there has been in the world, has been consistently opposed by the organized churches of the world......
My own view on religion is that of Lucretius. I regard it as a disease born of fear and as a source of untold misery to the human race. I cannot, however, deny that it has made some contributions to civilization. It helped in the early days to fix the calendar, and it caused the Egyptian priests to chronicle the eclipses with such care that in time they became able to predict them. These two services I am prepared to acknowledge, but I do not know of any others."

<div>I don't know how many of you have heard through the grapevine, Lejon and I (and possibly two others so far) are planning a run this december from Oakland to WeHo on PCH. It will be a two week/30+ mile per day expedition. Anne is handling our nutritional planning and Turo has tenatively mentioned being our road crew. I have arranged with an organization called the Black AIDS Institute to raise money. I am very excited to work with them. Part of what they are trying to accomplish is eliminating the stereotype that AIDS is limited to specific places or demographics and that it is everyone's problem. Until this happens and people start to work together nothing can be accomplished. They also work on the research end of things. I am proud to be a part of this process. And if you want to help or just go for a run sometime just give a shout.
I am also hoping to secure some sponsorships for things like running shoes, food, and other things. If you have any advice or experience with this kind of thing I would greatly appreciate any help.
Thanks Everyone!
