echidna is cooler than you will ever be, because he was an old school hardcore punk rocker when you were in diapers. the fact that he has progeny gives me a tiny bit more hope for the survival of the human species. [and on a technical note: the fact that he is developing in Java rather than .Net is a f?!?ing relief.)

While I like to look at all the photos of the pretty tribe people, something about folks posting so many photos of themselves strikes me as a little funny. Here's part of the Wikipedia entry about narcissistic personality disorder:

At least five of the following are necessary for a diagnosis (as with many DSM diagnoses, they must form a pervasive pattern; for example, a person who shows these criteria only in one or two relationships or situations would not properly be diagnosed with NPD):... read more

2. So much of the fitness and health writing out there is so dry you practically have to hydrate after you read it. I think it’s time we injected some humor into the genre.

3. Most people do not have the time to s... read more

Yes, we're playing

It's true: Engine 88 is playing a show. The deal is it's our old friend Peter Ellenby's book release party (the book is Every Day is Saturday), and he managed to contact a bunch of us old farts and connive us into sharing a backline and coughing up some tunes together. We're probably going to play 5-7 songs.

The show is on Friday October 27th, at Bottom of the Hill. The lineup is actually pretty impressive and fun: John Doe, Carlos, Overwhelming Colorfast, Oranger, an... read more

Easy for you to say, fucks. Fuck the motherfucking bench press and being all zen and shit about it. And fuck the motherfucking bench press too. Wait, also, fuck the motherfucking bench press.
Happy-Sad baby face CUPCAKES courtesy of Cakes By Two Moms, and no, I'm not crying...that much. I know we are veering out of fitness land a little, and I'd hate for anyone's muscles to get cold, but sometimes I just can't help but clarify my holiday wish and wish-not list for ...
Don't even think of doing anything Baywatch without me, bitches! I love it when PR folks send out links and shit for the latest idiot workout. It makes my day and then some. And the Baywatch Beach Body Workout is one of the more especially horrifically crap things to come through ...
The real observant among you will remember a while back I dissed the Nike Frees as calf cramp machines. The Frees, for those who don't know, and those shoes that are supposed to strengthen your legs and be more like running barefoot, blah blah. While I generously offered that Nike ...
There's a good thang in the NY Times about mental versus physical limits. The two are connected real close, and I like this: The first thing to know, said Dr. Benjamin Levine, an exercise researcher and a cardiology professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, is ...
