water from the well

... after 7 years of bad ones :-)

That anyone ever thought that torturing people was a good idea, frankly, astounds me. On December 10th, 1948, the General Assembly of the UN (of which the USA is a member) adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which put forth the idea (among many others), that:

"Article 5: No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment."

"... goddess in my garden, sister in my soul ..."

-- Rush, "Animate"

I'm alive. Looking out the window at this new day, excited for the plans I have and anxious to get to them (even if they would bore most people because a lot of them involve coding), i'm alive.

Watching my floppy-eared best friend eat a yummy breakfast sandwich I got him, reveling my love for him as he enjoys it, i'm alive.

Gazing at this empty room (the carpets are getting cleaned so I moved everything out) a... read more

"... nobody's shouting, nobody's fighting,
and all because the sun is in the sky ..."

-- Seers, "Sun Is In The Sky"

The installers were here this week, putting the rails on the roof, doing the electrical work, and finally installing and wiring the panels (they even let me help, which I really enjoyed). The result: i'm now solar-powered :-) Everything is my house is powered by my new friend, the sun. I've been saving, and researching, and saving, and preparing, and saving, and pl... read more

I am continually amazed at the size, depth, width and breadth of this reality we inhabit. I'm also amazed at how different vectors, like a ray tracing algorithm where light is aimed at a point from different angles, define how we describe something; how different perspectives can teach us about things, revealing facets of them that we weren't aware of before. I am _always_ thirsty! Take love -- as nebulous and oft-misunderstood concept as any -- as an example:

... that I know very little about a lot of my friends here. I really like learning about people -- not in a nosey or controlling kind of way, but in a "wow, you know i've dealt with that same part of the human condition, maybe we can compare notes" kinda way. So, i'd like to learn about people, and to start, i'll write some things about myself:

1. I compose music, usually in the ambient / ethereal / electronic space, and very often collaborating with female vocalists I admire. I really ... read more

about me
I reflect on the human condition, though sometimes I do an inordinate amount of reflection compared to actually experiencing said condition. I believe in education -- I am always thirsty and love learning. I believe in humanity, even with all of our faults, and the power / potential of the human heart and head above all else. I also believe that our differences are something to be celebrated, not used as a wedge to separate us from one another.

At first he was shy, tentative... timid even. But in one fail swoop he took power over an entire vampire bar, forcing the dammned to his will by lording over their stockade of blood. We aren't sure if we turned him or he turned us... but whatever the case, he is FAMILY now.

john likes to spin me around in 6 inch stilettos when i have no chance of catching myself. this makes me scream, and plead with him....he deserves no less.

His music is intoxicating. And he has a pretty big heart himself.

If anything can be said about this man it is this...John is my friend. In the most true sense that I have ever known friendship. You will never know a more giving, well meaning, thoughtful person. He sees me with eyes that I don't understand. If only everyone could be the wonderful things John sees in every person. I am his friend.

I don't know John in real life, but I can tell you he has written the most thoughtful and kindhearted responses in one of the tribes we are both in. From what I can tell he seems like a truly warm, caring and good person. I would say people that have him in their lives are lucky indeed.
