White Resonant World-Bridger Changing things up...that seems to be my theme over the last few years. Learning and growth... it has been a bumpy ride, but the scenery...whoa! I am getting more career focused so at the moment am on the journey to complete my Bachelor of Social Work. I am interested in working with youth, maybe those who have been in trouble with the law or those dealing with mental health issues. I am really excited!! For the first time in my professional life I feel confident and clear about what I am doing. In June 2005 I finished an outdoor wilderness guide program which I loved!! It was a really empowering experience for me. Nothing like swimming through a raging river to give you confidence ;) I would eventually like to get into taking youth in need out into nature to commune with the motha. As well as teaching hard skills I would like to combine them with more artistic/creative opportunities as well. Part of going back to school has meant moving away from my community which has been an interesting transition for me. Making this shift has allowed me to know myself a lot better both good and bad. Also, I want to get more into my artistic side, doll making, sewing, painting, writing, playing music etc. If anyone knows about any cool creative projects drop me a line. Also, looking for people to jam with. My dream for the not too distant future is to move out of the city to a peaceful piece of property which I share with others creating a vision for humanity. I am looking forward to coming back to Vancity in the fall (2008) and grading from my Social Work program in spring (2009). Abbotsford has been an interesting experience for me, but I am so wanting more from the community I live in. Can't wait for the abundance of dance and yoga classes, qi gong, and other creative pursuits available to me in the city. Also, really excited about doing my fourth year practicum in winter 2009. I am going to spend the summer trying to clarify what kind of placement will offer me the most opportunities for growth/advancement in my field and knowledge/skills. I love this work because it encompasses so many of my passions like community development, activism, social policy, families, critical thinking, connecting people/resources, relationship building, communication, etc. etc. This profession is so diverse and has so many different layers. That being said, social work has also been a real challenge for me. My program is very self reflective so I am constantly having to face up to myself as well as ask a lot of questions. Learning about empathy, compassion, developing understanding, non-judgment, and challenging assumptions. Good stuff right!?! In a nutshell this is what is up with me at the moment.

2)Two festivals you dream about going to, but have yet to make it there? I'll go first 1) Vancouver Folk Festival - the setting, the gypsy village, the diverse musical lineup, the food, and cause it's in my city. Eeek, I don't have a second! I guess Burning Man, but I don't always love it. When I do it is because of all the freaks and the magic and the sheer enormity and wonder of it all - TAZ realized. 2) Oregon County Fair and Di... read more

I have a Shambhala ticket for sale if anyone is interested. Msg. me or post. I can't remember how much I paid so I will have to look into that. It will be cheaper than what they are going for now.
