C'mon... say something nice

October 28, 2006
I have been remiss in not putting out this testimonial to my lady before this. This lady has my heart and for many years now is captain of my fate.
She is such a good person, everyone who meets her immediately feels a warm glow. She has much of the Goddess of the hearth in her and about her. People feel that in her presence. She loves to cook and care for people. She has often said she loves people with food. If you have ever been the recipient of something she has cooked or baked you know what that means.
She also loves thru her heart. I have seen her so upset because someone she loves is hurting or going thru hardships. She cares deeply for those she loves. And defends them fiercely. This I have seen many times.
I have seen her be strong, and I have seen her be soft and careing. She is wise and yet can be so silly, and she is a true Blonde, in all the silly fullness of that meaning.
She is very disarming, and often people who have dismissed her as not important or not a true player have had themselves turned on their ears by her true wit and excellent acting skills. She has shocked and amuzed many a "serious" player about the shire and those who know her and love her have seen that happen more than once.
She is so wise, with a practical wisdom that has kept me out of trouble on more than one occasion. I consider her my most important confidant, and she has proven on more then one occasion to me and others to be a true friend and sweet soul.
You could not find a better person for a friend or bonny companion than this lady.
Oh, and I love her beyond all reason and too my utter ruination. and would have it no other way.
and she has eyes like Saphires.

Lis, is a dear and true friend. I love to visit with her, she makes me laugh. I enjoy the conversations we have, sometimes we talk about our feelings for things, the energy around us, but always when we are done we have solved the world’s problems, LOL.
OMG, the woman gives the best foot rubs ever!! She is an awesome cook...Love through food!
My life is better by having this lovely woman in my life and I thank the gods that she is my friend.

Oh, Lisa! My dear friend! When I returned to Faire after about a 4 or 5 year hiatus (last year at Black Point was last time for me) at Tahoe this past season '05, Lisa was one of the first persons I'd met! She graciosly answered all my questions and conversed with me and we've been great friends ever since! Through other adventures of mine, she and I got to know each other better and better and she proved to be such a fun and wondeful friend. I love hanging with her and her guy, the Dutchman. Two more loyal friends, I've not known at faire in some time! She's a beautiful goddess of a woman who eminates positive and cheerful energy and makes you feel warm and sunny when in her presence. She is always there with a hug when you want one and her flask of many wonders is always offered in friendship and merryment! I LOVE YOU LISA, my dear, dear friend! Thanks for taking me in as you and Michael did! You're wonderful!

Random Babbling

I had a fabulous birthday weekend at Casa! Here is just one of the photos - I have mostly given up on Tribe, and posted the whole lot on my Myspace profile. Sharing photos is much easier there.
Val - got some very good ones of the Mayor's show for you.

More details if I ever get caught up here at work.

Current mood: annoyed

I'm so connected with daily computer interaction. Thank god for my work computer! Comcast is being difficult suddenly at home, and over the weekend it was down more than up. After several (total) hours on the phone with customer service techs trying to fix it by verbal commands, we finally have an appt with a tech to come out and see what suddenly went wrong. But not til late tomorrow. Drives me crazy that things work perfectly for a year, and then one day it d... read more

I didn't realize when I made my yearly appointment that I scheduled it on my mother's birthday. But it was appropriate that I had a mammogram today. She died of breast cancer at age 53. I wondered as I was being squished (ouchie) if she had ever even had one? Were they common practice back then? (22 years ago) I just know she left me way too soon. When I was 24, to be 53 years old was unimaginable anyway, but now it's around the corner. I didn't know my mother much on an adult level - ... read more

about me
tall, blonde, is the first thing noticable, I believe. Giggly, silly, but smart - some say periodically brilliant. Single mom for a long time. I don't recommend it as a life choice. The good life for me began at 39, and has gotten progressively more divine. Meeting and recognizing and exploring one's soul mate can do that. I almost forget now, what it felt like to not be loved. I am a pretty damn good cook, when I have the time - DO NOT help me in the kitchen unless I ask. :-) I'm terrible with thank you cards, and remembering birthdays, but that doesn't mean I don't regard you highly. I'm just kinda lazy and disorganized about that.

books I read

Currently reading:
The Dark Tower series - by Steven King
Wow. 6 immense volumes. But I'm not tired of it yet, and I've been reading steadily for about 5 weeks. That is amazing when I can usually polish off a good story in a couple days. And I usually reach my limit of Steven King after a week, anyway. Now I'm just stubbornly wondering how the heck he's going to tie up all the loose ends in the half book I have left. But it's been fun, and diverting. What will I do at lunch when I'm done?

American Gods - by Neil Gaiman
Really really good. I got through it in about a week. Fantasy, with real seeming characters. Reminded me of Steven King's style, in a way - without the excessive and revolting adolescent fart and booger humor.

Maia - by Richard Adams. I've had this whopper of a paperback on my shelf for probably 9 years, and never read it. I don't even remember ever starting it. But, I have been really enjoying reading it several hours a day, for several weeks - me who usually plows through small paperbacks in just a couple days. It's by the same author as Watership Down, but very different.

A Song for Arbonne. Very romantic stylized fantasy novel. Mercenary soldiers, mysics, bards, good kings, evil kings. I truly enjoyed it, and got to the end page and realized it was written by the same guy who co-wrote The Silmarillion after JRR died. I guess I'll have to get that one, one of these days.

'The Witching Hour', by Anne Rice. I left the house without a book last week (gasp! Horrors) and so had to stop in the used bookstore at lunch - closer than going home. This is a very intriguing book - I've enjoyed several of her's before, although I couldn't stand the Lestat ones.

Starting over at the 8th in the series by Robert Jordan of the Wheel of Time.... I got the 11th one (new) a few weeks ago, so I have to start back a ways, to get caught up in the story again. This'll keep me busy for quite a while..

Recent ones I've enjoyed:
Wicked by Gregory Maguire - makes me want to get the others in his genre, but I think I'll take a break.
3-15-06, Just finished the Cinderella one - 'Confessions of an evil stepsister' - it was very good!
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova - excellent adventure story centering on Dracula legend, reminded me of Da Vinci code in it's pace of historical events being uncovered with suspense.
The Golden Compass - a trilogy by Philip Pullman - I know I read the first one before, but this was sold as a set, and I raced through them all... it is an excellent fantasy and coming of age story.
.... (in progress)

favorites I've read over and over:
The Belgariad by David Eddings
The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
OUTLANDER, etc. by Diana Gabaldon - my all time favorite!
ALL the Pern novels and Crystal Singer ones by Anne McCaffrey
Song of Albion by Stephen Lawhead
The Amber series by Roger Zelazny
