I am a graphic artist and writer.....as well as a dancer. I have worked on a little zine called ImagicNation/ Funne Stuffe for about 10 years. The very last issue was issue 54. I'm now working on a new zine called Charmony, but the premier issue isn't ready yet. I've had my poems published in various different publications....none of them very large ones. I just signed a contract with an art agency and I'm exited about that.

It HAD been awhile since I checked out the Bellydance Superstars on-line store. I checked it out last night. they no longer have any t-shirts with pics.....just logo shirts and the like. I know they have a changing line-up, but that is just a tad boring. They did have dance pants in XL. Imagine that. Nice.

I suppose the Bellydance Superstars are not as hot a topic these days (no offense intended). I see lots of dvds out, but the hype and the controversy seems to have settled down. There was a lot of heat from many people who said that it seemed more important for the dancers to be young, thin and beautiful than anything else.

If you are from the south Texas (Rio Grande Valley) area and are an artist or artisan (portrait artist, landscape artist, collage, jewelry designer, weaver, basket maker, etc.), I am looking such folks for the Friday, November 2 and Friday, December 7 ArtWalk at McAllen Memorial Library. I have often come across someone who feels that an explanation of bellydance is that it is a sexy dance that came originally from fertility cults....so I would really like to say this about that: does that make Christianity, Islam, and probably Judaism and perhaps Buddhism sterility cults?
