about me
I grew up dancing. The lady who watched me after school taught hula dance. In order to graduate from her school you had to perform with two glasses of water on your shoulders without spilling a drop.
Later I tried ballet but was told I pronate, tsk tsk, that would never do. When I moved back to Alaska in 1995, I rented a bellydancing costume from a local shop, grabbed a boom box and met my husband at the airport. It was such a blast, i had no clue what I was doing but I loved it. The seed was planted. I promptly set out to find a teacher. Some of my first teachers were Selina Star (who has since fell off the face of the earth somewhere near Kansas... Toto tell her hi) and Grace Ann (God bless you for your patience). That is also where I met my best cigar smoking, russian speaking, bellydancing buddy Melissa "maya". We have been through "thick" and "thin" together, mostly thick lately as the years catch up to us. IN 2000, it was I that fell of the edge of the earth as I was gobbled up in the nursing program at UAA. Now, six years later, Im teaching a class in nursing. Only in America can you go from 6th grade drop out to college professor. I have a wonderful husband who has put up with me for 20 years!!! WOW what a man. He just said to me many years ago; "I really would have thought you would have burned out on this bellydancing thing" Then after I graduated from UAA he said "I want you to start dancing again, your eyes sparkle, your face glows, and your heart shines". See I told you I found a good man. We have 3 beautiful daughters, some of you have seen them dance. At one point all 3 were dancing with me at the Three Barons Renn Fair. I have 1 incredible granddaughter that turned 2 in Oct 06. She makes me laugh, she makes me cry, but most of all she makes me so happy!! I am expecting twin grandsons in the spring of 07. You guys will need to attach tethers to me to keep me on the ground, I'm sure I will just be walking on clouds. My first love is caberet. I love the sparkle, the flash and of course the costumes. Lately, I have been inspired by the many new faces in our community. Their love for the dance, the depths of their hearts, the vast expanse of their imaginations!!! So many incredibly talented women living right here in our lovely town. I am truely a blessed woman

I had the most wonderful visit with my brother Dale yesterday. He is like a guru when it comes to electronic things. He told me of this new (well new to me) adventure called geocaching. (www.geocaching.com) all you need is a handheld GPS system. (it you buy one he recommends getting the kind that comes within 3 meter accuracy).

The morning in Ontario was clear and cold. The same mornings I remember sitting outside and having coffee with my mom in Salem and watching the hummingbirds come for breakfast. I can remember sitting on her patio and the smell of her roses becoming stronger as the sun ascended. We didn’t have to talk; we could just sit and enjoy each other and the beauty before us. It still amazes me that I can miss her so much after so man... read more I know I have said it before but it is worth repeating “Interstate driving makes for boring blogs”. The skies were clear and blue as we traveled over the small mountain range that separates Wyoming from Utah. I always forget how beautiful Utah is, t... read more

Casper, WY to Evanston, Wy What an incredibly beautiful day to ride. The day brought beautiful blue skies this morning, no wind, not too hot, not too cold. We stopped at Independence Rock. It is on the Oregon Trail. Travelers used it as a type of mile marker to make sure they were far enough West to make it over the mountains before winter set in too much. To my amazement there were flocks of large birds in the distance circling together. I asked the caretaker what the... read more

I awoke to grey skies with thin high clouds. Keystone is about 2 mi from Mt Rushmore. The hotel was full and there were a few travelers outside as I wandered out to my bike. I was talking with one man from Canada that was traveling with his wife, mom, dad, and 10 kids. No wonder he was outside drinking his coffee. He was telling me all about Black Hills. There is so much to see here, one could spend days here and still not see it all. He and his wife ... read more

Kimber I am proud to be able to call you a friend and say that i have had the pleasure to dance with you (even in the freezing outdoors) and will always cherrish the farewell dance you did for me.
You are crazy, loving, caring, talented, adventurous and awesome gal, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise! November 20, 2007
Kimber is a beautiful and awesome dancer! Her piece of dueling banjos, that she did with Isidora Bushkovski at my Eartquakes and Hipshakes production will my favorite forever. Thank you! !
