This woman, really, never ceases to amaze me with her resilience and tolerance..... While I freak right out over a project, the latest one being a new vanity in my downstairs bathroom - she just simply sticks with the program and remains calm - figuring out the next step.... all the while, I just wanna kill somebody. Inga has got the greatest work ethic and patience............... I am so lucky to have you in my life seeing me through and accepting my craziness, my impatience will all things..... I do love you so........Thank you always for everything and for always being you...............

I have know this woman for many years, through good times and the worst of times. We know each other so well. We have shared so many laughs and numerous tears. She's quiet and introverted, yet don't let that fool you into believing she's not thinking...the chick is extrordinarily brilliant! I love her for so many reasons: I can walk into her house without knocking, help myself to whatever I want, get on her computer and play, or sit on the couch and read; it's ok if I don't talk. We've shared a stockpile of the worst imaginable jobs together: anything from demolition, roofing, plumbing, painting, installing new flooring, oh yeah, wall papering your fucking ceiling during the worst winter storm of the year!......cleaning up the most disgusting messes that have caused us both to almost puke - what comes to mind here is "your gallon of gas and a match house" with the "Trainspotting" bathroom in it. How the fuck did you talk me into that one? Or was it me who talked you into tearing that disgusting pig of a ruin out of that pigsty and throwing it over your deck and onto that massive pile of debris which consisted of pretty much the entire house? Anyway, the jobs and work we've done are an endless list and I must say, we work great together, accomplishing lots! I especially love her for her chainsaw, which she's afraid to use herself, so I climb the trees and cut what she tells me to cut. All kidding aside though, I love you, Inga, for your honesty, your insights, your support, even when I fuck up; I love you for being there, for all those times when I've been on the ground, unable to get up by myself, I thank you for believing in me and seeing something worthwhile in me, during those times when I could see no light at all. I love you for your stability, although we've both seen each other at our absolute worst. I'm sorry your ex-husband spent so much time with me - while you were still married to him - and that caused you so much pain. Really, it's a miracle we've survived the shit we've gone through! And we're better friends than ever! You rock, girl and I'll always be grateful for the generosity that is you. I'll be damned though.........I will NOT let you win our "World Championship Hearts Tourney." LOVE YOU MADLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, long time no write. I've been busy!
I finished the basement this summer. Unbelievable! It turned out really well, and again I learned a lot about how to build and finish things. All that's left is a little bit of plumbing and finishing a space about 4' x 6' once that's done. I'm pretty happy that the renovations are finished, seven years after moving in.
About a month ago, my friend Val asked me if I would be interested in tearing out her cabinets in ...

It's been a busy and physically/emotionally draining time. Trip to Iceland, contract from hell, yard work, working on the basement, etc. etc. etc. The hardest part is the death of my friend Martin, whose picture appears with this entry.
On the face of it, Martin and I had little in common, aside from being human beings. That proved to be enough. He got his cancer diagnosis in November 2007, and it was bad. The news continued to get worse as time went on, as his life expect...

OK, so I've been in project hell, trying to satisfy a client who keeps changing her mind, then asks for major revisions just before interim deadlines. But, I finished the bulk of that work this past weekend, and thought that a nice trip to deliver some training in Fort St. John would be a good transition back to regular life. Ha! Here's the story.
Monday morning, get up at 7:00 to get my act together to get to the airport for my 9:30 flight to Vancouver. No problem. Plenty...

A lovely, lazy Sunday, the first of 2009. The past two weeks have been pretty perfect...a peaceful Christmas, a quiet New Year's Eve, a fun New Year's Day and just enough activity to keep my mind working and body moving.
Last year, I said what I wanted from 2008 was:
- whirled peas, of course
- personal peace and centeredness
- finish off the renovations to this old house
- continue to do a few contracts, but keep the lid on paid work
- to operate out of lovingkindn...

It's been DAMN cold for about 5 days, with another at least 10 days predicted. We've had to use a supplementary electric heater in the living room - long story, not worth telling - to keep John as warm as he likes. The good electric heaters are under the tarp in the back yard, along with the Christmas tree and a whole lot of other stuff. This year, the Christmas decorations consist of plastic pine garlands and LED lights on the porch railing and a willow wreath that I mad...
