In peace and flow,
Rebecca

From Baxter (re-posted)
Hello, Louisville, Kentucky!
Thank you for you invitation to come and teach and I gladly
accept.
I am very excited to come to Louisville for a 3 Day Workshop
series beginning on Friday, March 13th, 2009 and running until Sunday,
March 15th, 2009.
While I have never visited Louisville, I am excited
to reconnect with those I have met before who have traveled from the
Louisville-area to visit me in other workshop cities (Knoxville and
Chicago.
) I’m very grateful to our friend, Rebecca Hellemans, for
putting this workshop together for us.
Rebecca has explained to me
that Louisville is very strategically located to many different cities,
so my hope I that this workshop will pull together many hoopers from
different areas for a weekend of intense (and fun) HoopPath training.

The space we will be is large enough to hold about 20 students so I
imagine that there will be enough tickets to go around.
I will post updates here on this page as tickets begin to sell.

I realize that I hardly ever detail the things that we will be
working on in our workshops. The truth is that I have been fortunate
in finding enough people who are willing come to my workshops without
knowing what will be covered beforehand.
Yet, I don’t mean to be mysterious, so let me share with you some of the things I plan on
covering over the 3 days:
- The Maidan Way (the Metaphor system I use to communicate my ideas.
)

- The Maidan concept of “Two Trees.
”

- “Two Birds”

- Angle Hooping

- Hooping on the Shoulders and legs

- Breaks, Reverses, and Paddles.

- “Rooting” and “Stepping”

- The Development of a Practice

- “Touch” techniques, specifically Samurai (3rd Day)

- Developing Flow

- Meditations intended to create Stillness, Awareness, and self-generated Momentum.

I would like to state here (publicly) that each workshop I teach is
different.
It is this reason that I began a while ago naming the
workshops after the destinations in which these workshops are
occurring.
Each Community we visit offers a different energy and
texture.
I have learned over the last three years of traveling that it
is impossible to roll out the same exercises and methods from city to
city.
To do this, would be to deny the inescapable fact that different
communities have different needs and desires.
Also, there is the
unavoidable presence of inter-personal chemistry within the group
assembled.
It may seem strange to those of you new to the Hoop
Community when you read this type of thing, but believe me; it’s real.

As students gather, they bring with them all of the cool, unique
qualities that make them who they are.
Some groups want to focus on
the moves, some want to focus on the Practice, some want to focus on
the dance, etc, etc.
It’s my goal as Facilitator to move the Teaching
towards those present rather than the other way around.
So, HP:
Louisville can only be written so much prior to coming to the first
class. I come with a plan, but I don’t handcuff myself to that plan.

Based on the students who I have been told are coming, I imagine that
we will cover some pretty Advanced concepts over our three days
together.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at
Baxter@hooppath.com.
If you are a brand new hooper, please feel free
to contact me about attending.
We have had many newbies take our
workshops before.
It can be intimidating, but if you’re prepared for
it, it also be very inspiring.
Thank you for taking the time to read
this.

<div>This is an update to my previous blog.
Thanks to all of you who care enough to help manifest peace~

Received 1.15.09

if you get a chance, look up on either google or youtube, the statements from John Ging, head of UNRWA (united nations relief and welfare agency) operations in gaza, and statements by two norweigian doctors who just left gaza after being in shifa hospital for the past 12 days or so. compelling, to say the least.

we're now at over 1,000 killed and nearly 5,000 wounded. 40 percent of the dead and 50 percent of the wounded are women and children. the medical teams in gaza are saying that the rest have been elderly men and civilian men. they say they are not seeing hamas dead or wounded, simply becausewhere the fighting is taking place the ambulances and medical teams have not been allowed in to pick up casualities or bodies. the cemetaries that have not been bombed are either full or impossible to get to, so there is no place left for families to bury their dead.

keep manifesting peace,

    </a>
<div>Good morning from Sunny LA. I have been awake since 6 am and have watched a beautiful sunrise from the 16th floor of our hotel room. We are staying in Universal City about 10 minutes from the Ellen studios.

Our travel yesterday went smooth for the most part. We arrived to the Louisville airport with hoops in hand and certainly had some odd looks from the staff at Untied when I handed them our hoops well packed in buble wrap and tape. I could see that they were holding back laughing and I could imagine the conversations from the people in the loading areas.

As we passed through security... we were made to go to the "potential terrorist" area because our tickets were purchased at the last minute. I didnt care because I plan on having everything searched...anymore... but damn..something is a little absured when I see my 5 year old being patted down. Sierra made sure she told everybody where she was going and was sent with well wishes.

I was so tired I fell asleep on the plane before we even took off ... waking up only to being told we were landing in Chicago. We had plenty enough time in our layover to actually walk through O'Hare. Sierra enjoyed seeing the dinasuar replica and the really awesome ligtht exhibit through the B to C terminals. We boarded a very full plane to LA...and this time I made it in the air before both of us fell asleep. Again we woke up about 10 minutes before landing which made for a really easy trip on us.

When we landed we were contacted by Ellen's producers again and had a driver by the name of Tony waiting on us. He was incredibly nice and accomedating trying to get the bundle of hoops in his car! LOL. When we made it to the hotel, Sierra was wide-eyed.. and said.. this is this nicest hotel I have stayed in my whole entire life! (lol) and I must say.. it is very nice.

Once we cleaned up.. we went up the hill to Universal City Walk and met up with one of my friends of 17 years and her husband. While we were walking around Sierra saw hoops in front of Bubba Gumps Shrimp restarurant...and had to go over. Needless to say she was wowing a crowd with her beam me ups and knee action. We all had a good laugh.

Afterwards we went down into Hollywood.. and took sierra to the Kodak Theater and the walk of fame. She stood in John Travolta's foot prints and played with a silver man street preformer.

Finally we went to eat at this little Italinan Restarurant over on Ventura Blvd. OMG.. It was incredible! Thank you Francisco ( the head chef) for all your kindess. I will post the name and location of it later.. so if anybody is in the LA area... please go. They make their pasta from scratch and it was truely one of the best meals I have had in awhile.

I was so tired by the time we got back to the hotel room... I couldnt even connect to let everybody know we made it in safely. So I was floored this morning by all the messages and well wishes for Sierra and myself. Thank you all so much. I have said it at least 10 times to the producers.. the Hooping Community is the best... and I mean it. Amazingly supportive, kind and friendly. Thank you all so much!!!! Really my heart goes out to all of you.

So.. we have alot to do this morning. The show is sending somebody at 1 pm to pick up up and we will be taping at 4 pm. Apparently they have changed the air date of the show. I was told it would air on thursday the 20th but accourding to the Ellen Website, it is showing on Friday the 21st. Urggg... emails to send out !!!

Love to you all.... we willl post an update of our travel adventures later tonight or in the morning!

    </a>
<div>This is just an update for all of you who have been asking for one~ it is now 4:46 am. I have officially been up for 24 hours without sleep, but I am doing okay now.

I didnt find out until almost 11pm when we were actually flying to LA. There had been quite a few phone calls between producers and myself. Finally an itenary... Our plane leaves at 9:17 am, so I will be leaving for the airport about 7:20 am.

Why am I still up, seems to be a resonable question! Well I had so much to do to get ready to leave. A special thank you goes out to Rhonda for coming over tonight and helping me tape more childrens hoops, buying pizza, and keeping me sane! White furry gators had to be sewen... laundry done, an assortment of out fits for the producers to choose from, hoops bubble wrapped for transport... urgg.. the list goes on and on. So by this point.. now that I can finally take a deep breath.... I realize I am hungry and if I go to sleep now... We may miss our flight. I must get Sierra up in an 1.5 hours so.. I might as well stay up. We have a long flight and a layover in Chicago. I will sleep on the plane... I dont think anything will keep me up by that point.

We will arrive in LAX around 2 pm and one of my friends of 17 years is going to meet us at the hotel for dinner and an evening out in LA. Im really excited to see her and her husband.

Wednesday they will send for us around 1 pm and tape the show at 4 pm. Sierra is doing great. She was asked by one of the producers what she wanted to be when she grew up.. her response... " A Hoop Diva" ... well there you go! I think she is well on her way. ( **laughing**)

The show will air on THURSDAY. That is this Thursday March 20th at 4pm est. It will air before we even land back in Louisville at 7:00pm. I have DVR set .. and they have promised a dvd too.

So.. that's it.. Time for some breakfast, last minute checks and then waking her up.

We are very excited... and appreciate all the well wishes! I will keep all updated as I can.

Now.. what should a sleep deprived hoop addict do for an hour??? That's right... turn on some music and hoop for awhile.. gotta get that blood a pumping!

Love to all ~ </div>

A Perfect Day...

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/ef82316c-1161-4df6-9054-86cfc1596468/blog/befddd71-1122-4193-a59c-a28fe441451d"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/815/1d4/8151d44e-3ce6-461f-8d07-57e60729ac45.thumb" width="61" height="78" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>As it has been noted in other blog post, yesterday was a perfect day... a perfect day on so many levels! I’m still bouncing, smiling and rejuvenated from it. Instead of exhausting me.... it's given me burst of motivation, energy and drive. It was a day I have needed... a day to pull me outside of myself... and a reminder that in serving others you are truly serving yourself.

For the past several months, it has been my goal to unite the SOB's( Southern Ohio Burners) and the Kentucky Burners. I have been wearing Poosie Kat and Chaba's ears off over the subject, so when the opportunity to help out Wolf Run Animal Shelter came up... I knew this would be the perfect event.... and once the tribes were untied... what a force we were!

Never have I seen a group of people make building roofs and repairing fences, not only fun.. But just down and out sexy. We had incredible warm, sunny weather, a large turn out of people, great food , fresh coffee, hooping sessions and were surround by amazing animals.

It was a pleasure to finally meet the people from which I have only heard "rumors of". Connections were made instantly and bonds were formed. I’m so happy that my burner family has been expanded yet again.. and I look forward to future interactions.

Finally there were the animals... oh what a joy to be around. The lions were humbling as they fur shined like gold in the sun, the goats made us laugh, the deer were sweet but then there were the wolves.. for which we were there.

We built 3 roofs over the pre-existing kennels that had been damaged in February's tornados, cemented fence post that were leaning &amp; mulched the kennels for fresh beddings. Several of the wolves were in a fenced area next to us and were nervous about the activities occurring in their homes... but by the end of the day.. they jumped eagerly into their new area with excitement.

Then, there was the last gift .. I was handed the keys to another fenced area.. where there were 3 wolves on the inside and another on an outer ring. We were told we could go in with them if we wanted .. but we would get muddy. ( like we weren't already)... So Carrie, Graham, Poosie and I entered first, followed by others later. I was met with great enthusiasm by two of the wolves. They jumped up on us..giving us kisses, love, and an incredible energy.

I wont forget the sight of Graham running in circles with them playing like a child, seeing Poosie Kat embracing the large male, being knocked down in the mud, or the look on everybody's face. Pure blissfulness. The sun was setting and it was definitely that "magical hour" for photographs.... there were many taken.

So again, I must say Thank you to the SOB's for rallying to the cause and making the effort to come down.

Thank you to Karine and the KY Burners or organizing the event and asking for help.

Thank you to Wolf Run Refuge for what you are doing for these amazing animals...

and

Thank you to the animals for your unconditional love and support. It was you who by far helped us (me) more than we helped you. I feel very blessed.

<div>Dying to make a travel hoop to carry on bike rides and other adventures... made my first collapsible hoop this evening.

All in all I am very pleased with the ease of which it collapses and the overall weight.

Will be making more of these bad boys.... and definately need to get back to spending more time in the hoop. </div>
