I never expected Sausalito to have so much life, so much appeal for me. I had imagined a place stuffy with the snooty type of wealth that would seem to be in a place where a house would be in the millions. Towering headlands of craggy stone, forests of fir and pine trees clinging to steep slopes that lead precipitously to the sea, which is green and filled with gently waving kelps. The cove that we stayed in for a time was such a delight after being put to the test out at sea. There is a deficit of language when it comes to describing a place like Bombay. It is as though it were a city that has grown again out of the rubble and chaos of a nuclear bomb. A city of vast slums of unimaginable squalor, crumbling mansions, gleaming highrises thrusting up out of the chaos of it all. It is so hectic that a westerner can't even imagine the place.
