When I first met XTC I only saw her as maybe... a lot of fun with cocoa butter.
I would have never have imagined the exquisite creature that I see her as now.
She is the only person I've ever met that consistently gives me a feeling of elation-
from some simple thing she says or does-
that leaves me feeling that my chest might have actually exploded.. with tears on my cheeks.
If you've had your doubts, I'm here to tell you it's true.
She simply is...

X is the best thing that ever happened to me. I consider it an honor every second that she spends with me. I can't even imagine who I would be if I hadn't met her, and I don't want to.
X gives of herself to the world around her better than anyone I know. She demands nothing and is content with what she gets. She see's the best in everyone which brings out the best in everyone. She makes the world a better place by existing in it.
She continually completes my life.

I may still be sitting quietly in the corner watching everyone from the
sidelines if it weren't for XTC: 1998, a week after my first burning man.
Back in LA and feeling very disconnected from the openness i felt
on the playa. Arrived late at a Bindlestiff show where i knew many of
my gigsville neighbours would be. Intensely shy. Entered the crowded bar in full panic mode. ... Then i saw XT, who i'd met on the playa, and in my head had named "the-woman-with-those-insanely-gorgeous-eyes". She leaped up, smiled widely, called out my name and gestured for me to come sit next to her. I've seen her do the same with
about 472 other people since that night. And every time i see folk's eyes light up just as mine must have, when she greets them so warmly and welcomes them openly into her life. I appreciate her more then i really have words for. She is truly an outstanding individual. And she's got wacky hair like me, which must mean something important.

Many months ago, I told everyone I was going to organize a Gigsville 10 year reunion (yes I know we're going on 11 but 98-2008 sounded better to me.). I said it would be the weekend of July 4th. The cat was too big for me to herd, and I couldn't find a location that could do what I wanted at the cost I wanted it. So no official 10 year reunion but I do hope to see those of you on the playa who I can.
I am working on a plan to make sure the important stuff isn't lost, but it will be a while til you get the details of that. So I just wanted to say that I thank all of you for the life a girl could have.
This passage in the Da Vinci Code (which I'm finally reading) made me smile:
In fact, so strong was the Church's fear of those who lived in the rural villes that the once innocuous word for "villager" - villain - came to mean a wicked soul.
It takes a village, and we continue. 11 years on the playa, and more importantly, in each other's lives. Shocking.
Yours in Fire,
XTC

1st Annual Austin GRILLED CHEESE INVITATIONAL!
Registration is now open!!
www.grilledcheeseinvitational.com/a...ml
There will be only 40 competitors, no exceptions. So before you go to register, be thinking about what category you will compete in, what the name of your sandwich will be, and whether your sandwich will be vegetarian. (All of this information will be required at registration.)
Note: If you only plan on eating, there's no need to register. Only register if you are going to compete.
Category Reminders (See the rules page for the legalese questions about them):
The Missionary Position: Standard bread, standard butter, and standard cheese.
The Kama Sutra: Exotic or standard bread, butter, and cheese plus additional ingredients.
The Honey Pot: Exotic or standard bread, butter, and cheese, but a sandwich that is sweet in general, or would best be served as dessert.
Doors to the event will open at 7:00pm and the grilling will start promptly at 8:00pm. All those planning on grilling should be there and ready at 7:30pm.
ITEMS/RULES YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF:
1) All sammiches must be pre-registered. There will be no on site registration WHATSOEVER!
2) There will be a maximum of 40 competitors, no exceptions.
3) Each competitor will be allowed only 30 minutes to grill per category. So save yourself the time and do as much prep-work ahead of time. You can compete in more than one category.
4) All contestants must present their sandwiches on the official plates provided. This is to insure that every sandwich gets it's 16 votes turned in. You can have additional items with your sandwich (pamphlets, drinks, etc), but they MUST fit on the plate provided.
5) All those looking to eat sammiches must get them at the judging station and not at the cooking area or by the chefs. Competitors should provide their own runners who will go and get sandwiches and bring them to the judging station. NO EXCEPTIONS. We will have some volunteer runners to assist, but the competitors should not rely on us to have one for you.
7) While we are tabulating the results, there will be entertainment.
Please note, all other rules still apply.

This seems as good a time as any to declare that I've declared that you
must reserve the weekend of July 4th, 2008 for the Gigsville Ten Year
Reunion. (I do know that technically it is 11 years, but I think
1998-2008 sounds better.)
What I know it will be: A multi day experience ala Twigsville, but I am
going to try to get as many people who feel like Gigsville has touched
them in some way (eeewww) to join us.
What I don't know yet: Where it will be or what it will look like. I
have a few ideas. You have a few ideas.
Things I would like to see happen: yearbook, maybe some sort of booth
where we can tell and record our stories. I don't know how much time I
have to devote to these ideas so if you think you'd like to head this
up, please contact me.
If you would like to help with these or general organizationalness,
please email me offlist at xtc (at) gigsville.org

SindiGig Secretary

about me
I hate describing myself. I think people are the best part about living. While I don't think of myself as very creative (though I'm working on that), I surround myself with creative people and doers. I am an organatrix. I give people the benefit of the doubt off the bat. (This
can be abused.) I'm protective of those I love. I love to kiss. I am here to help. I drink too much Diet Coke. I'm the Official Boundary Crosser, though usually it's with a nudge rather than a Smash! I am a rational freak.
