A classmate of mine says to me the other day, "You can never fool the eyes." His belief is that you can always tell what someone is about by paying attention to their eyes. Most of us will agree that our modern life is filled to the brim with hype, spin, bullshit, etc. This is especially obvious when one investigates the ideas and logic of one’s opponents. It is markedly less obvious in detecting it in one’s comrades, particularly in one’s self. I am of the opinion that an understanding of bullshit’s assorted flavors will bring with it more intelligent and worthwhile conversation.
