Nobody likes me, everybody hates me,
Guess I'll go eat worms, Long, thin, slimy ones; Short, fat, juicy ones, Itsy, bitsy, fuzzy wuzzy worms. Down goes the first one, down goes the second one, Oh how they wiggle and squirm. Up comes the first one, up comes the second one, Oh how they wiggle and squirm. Well, I can't top Shakespeare or anything. I could have sung Free to be You and Me again! ha ha! No, seriously, my sister is the bomb! I mean that! I'm not joking now. She's badass. Don't fuck with her! September 22, 2006
Elissa is a terrific Doumbek Player one of the very best in the Phoenix area. She is allways trying to grow her talents she has taken just about every drum clinic available to her and encourages others to do the same.

about me
Shall I compare me to a summer's day?
I art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of me, And summer's me hath all too short a date: Sometime too hot the me of heaven shines, And often is my gold complexion dimm'd; And every me from me sometime declines, By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd; But my eternal summer shall not fade Nor lose possession of that me I owest; Nor shall Death brag I wander'st in his shade, When in eternal lines to time I growest: So long as men can me or me can me, So long lives me and me me me me me.

Re: Play the drum Issam plays!
(in Issam Houshan ~The Tabla King)
Thanks for the references, Ted. I met Frank at a tribal convention in the San Diego area last fall. We jammed a little and I was invited to play with his drum group in the show that night. He was very friendly. I've also taken workshops with I...

"Business Guy Jerk". Sounds like a good nickname for you, Ted. ;-)
It's okay, we welcome new people to Tribe, we just want to focus more on discussing the learning, performing and perfecting of the art. It's okay to let us know what you're v... read more discussion post on Thu, July 2, 2009 - 3:54 PM
Re: found new video showing common and less common rhythms
(in Dumbek Fever)
Wow, that's cool! It's super-embellished, though, so probably not great for beginners.

Re: Bolero and Rhumba
(in Middle Eastern Percussion)
Wow, that's a big difference!
Yeah, Bir Demet Yasemin is the song that comes to mind for me with this rhythm. When I first learned Bolero, I was expecting it to be like Ravel's Bolero, which I've played the snare and tympani parts on. It's ... read more discussion post on Mon, June 8, 2009 - 8:58 PM
Re: Bolero and Rhumba
(in Middle Eastern Percussion)
As a beginner, I was taught that bolero is this: D-tk t-k- D-k- D-k-
Later, I was taught rhumba as this: D-tk t-k- t-k- D-k- I learned the bolero version from a respected SCA-style drummer and the rhumba version from a respected Middl... read more discussion post on Mon, June 8, 2009 - 7:48 PM
I'm excited to announce my third Big Spring Hafla in the Greater Phoenix area. It will be May 2nd and features some of my favorite people: the great master percussionist Souhail Kaspar, enchanting crooner Rachid Halihal and a new guest to Arizona, the fabulous Neo-Tribal dancer Jane Archer. I'm so excited to have these masters, and some amazing local talent in the show. The hafla will be half show, half dance party for everybody to live music!

Great news! Souhail will be back in the Phoenix area with percussion workshops and a feature performance in mid-October. It has been five long months since he has graced the valley with his presence, and we are excited to have him back. I am also thrilled to announce the grand opening celebration of Plaza de Anaya World Fusion Studio in Tempe, Arizona, where Souhail will be featured. Many of you know the studio through its past incarnations as Domba and the Mystic Jewell. Now my good fri...

All skill levels and drop-ins are welcome, and future classes will be designed based on demand, such as beginning and continuing drum classes for drummers, or rhythm classes ... read more
<<knock, knock>> Hey, guys, how’s it going? I just stopped by to check out this thread…. Holy shit, what’s going on? It’s mayhem in here! Halil just karate chopped some guy in the throat, Kevin is swinging his gigantic darbuka with wild, skull-crushing abandon, Jeffrey is poking someone in the eyes with his huge, manly digits and Todd is doing a schizophrenic dance around them. Someone just overturned a table and now beer mugs and half-eaten turkey legs are sliding everywhere. There’s...

In lieu of me and Mary's 4th Annual Birthday Bash, we'll be partying down with some of our favorite musicians at a picturesque home in Goodyear. Same place, one weekend later. We won't turn down presents.
