My Testimonials

October 10, 2007
Oh my god, how have I been on tribe this long and not left a testimonial for Glenn??

What would the bellydance community in Wichita do without him. He is so faithful to our art and to his personal dance friends, I will always be indebted to him.

May it be his smiling face as the only customer who showed up in the restaurant when your dancing (Grape Leaf anyone?) or the flash of his camera at an event, it always makes me feel like a better dancer. He is extremely talented in capturing the beauty of us performing this art in digital form.

He has been there for us when times get tough as an ear to vent to or a shoulder to rest your head on.

Who else would be willing to run the music and the projector at our various hafla's and MECDA events. For all that he does for us we will never be able to repay him.

What a lucky boy, instead of being a "bellydance boyfriend" to one, he is to all of us. Not sure if its a blessing or a curse..but he hangs in there :0)

Love you!!!

Hugs,
Me

Glenn is one of the biggest bellydance supporters in Wichita! He's toted my gear all over town for me, d.j.'d at my events, listened to me ramble on and on at length about dance. And most importantly, he's a sweet person. And he's also the only person who will catsit Sasha Louise Beastie.

The only thing wrong with him is that he calls me up all the time to brag about how sweet and well-behaved his kitties are :P

Soapbox Natterings

On June 27th, 2007, my father passed away. He was 79 years old. I was prepared mentally and spiritually for his death. He was sickly the last year and struggled just to get around the house. I knew he wasn't long for this world. But as prepared as I was, I have since realized that emotions heal at their own pace. My loss of him occured on many different levels of attachment I was unaware. My father and I didn't have a close relationship over the years but during the last three to five ... read more

A few weeks ago I had a vision of the Benedictine monk and author, Father Bede Griffiths, who, before he died lived into his 80s as a Sannyasis in India at an ashram. He was a tall, thin man with a long white beard and equally long grey hair tied in a ponytail behind his back. We walked along a narrow, winding path through a wooded area that opened up to a clearing that revealed a precipice of smooth rock overhanging a beautiful misty blue ocean. We wore only simple, short, white muslin dhot... read more

As a youth, I was terribly afraid of the dark. My family lived out in the country where inevitably one learns the meaning of the term pitch black. When I would awake from my sleep and open my eyes, I couldn't even see my hand in front of my face. It truly gets that dark. It is as if reality ceases. The walls, floor and door of my bedroom would dissolve and disappear into the darkness of the night. Lying in bed, I would gaze into the darkness of my bedroom and realize that I quickly lost a... read more

Here is an old photo of one of my sisters and I playing as if living in the age of knights, chivalry and damsels in distress. Of course, I always wanted to be the knight in shining armor! Playing and trying out all the roles is so vital to our growth as children. Not only is it fun, it helps us learn what we want to be as an adult. As an adult, instead of playing and posing at all the possible roles, I have learned that it is so much more important to be authentic, genuine, and true. An... read more

We live in a world of constant change, don't we? I feel like I'm riding a carousel, sometimes sitting in the center looking outward, seeing only a chaotic blur, other times clinging to the edges wondering how long I can hold on. It's no wonder I often dream about flying. From above I can watch the carousel spin as through a kaleidoscope. With gentle circular turns, there emerges subtle patterns and rhythms, a geometry of light and sound, the sacred dance of life. When I use my wings, my h... read more
