a woman who's constant dynamo of activity and wonderous striving towards simply making things better for those in her life is only matched by her compassion and beauty.
or, this is all part of some sort of bizarre witness relocation program to disguise her previous life as a feisty gangster's moll - and it is to her credit that she's refrained from whacking anyone.... that i know about.

I have made an Etsy shop for my tribal hair sticks, which incorporate flowers, feathers, and yarn falls. Please come have a look! I can make custom pieces if you have a color scheme and/or flower you'd particularly like.

Dance-a-Thon, Sat. Jan. 12th at Shoebox Studios
( community » other ) Via Miss Cera Byer, owner of ShoeBox Studios and director of Damage Control Dance Theatre
Dance-A-Thon! This Saturday, ShoeBox Studios is hosting a Dance-A-Thon benefit for the studio & CARE.org. Here's the deal: Kick off the new year by dancing, sweating, and shaking it for a great cause! ShoeBox Studio is hosting it's first ever Dance-A-Thon! On January 12th, from 10AM-8PM, every ShoeBox class will be offered in a 30-45 minute sample format. Classes will run back to back as a "marathon". Dancers who would like to dance but not collect pledges may still participate by simply making a $12-20 sliding scale donation at the door. You can view a class schedule for the day and download a pledge sheet here: www.shoeboxsf.com/events.html ****** This is an awesome opportunity to try out every class the studio offers, and do it all for free, with the help of your pledges! CARE.org will be donating their signature "I Am Powerful" t-shirt to the person who dances the longest! Also, for every hour you dance, there is a donor who will give $5 to CARE.org, helping us raise funds for CARE! Register your time spent dancing here: www.care.org/features/workout/index.asp CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. Women are at the heart of CARE's community-based efforts to improve basic education, prevent the spread of HIV, increase access to clean water and sanitation, expand economic opportunity and protect natural resources. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives. Donation will be made in the name of ShoeBox Studio Student Community. ****** If you'd like to come, but your nervous about your stamina - you DO NOT have to dance the whole time nonstop! You can pick and choose what classes you'd like to take, as we will be logging your time throughtout the whole day. The top 3 Dance-A-Thoner's will be mentioned on the ShoeBox Site, Blog, and in our February newsletter. ****** Here's the schedule of classes: 9:30-10:00AM Arrival, Check-In 10:00-10:30AM Warm Up Pilates w/ Christopher 10:30-11:00AM Contemporary w/ Sara Templeton 11:00-11:45AM Dark Fusion Bellydance w/ Ariellah 12:00-12:30AM Funk Fusion Bellydance w/ Cera 12:30-1:00PM Street Jazz w/ Amber 1:00-1:30PM Yoga Conditioning for Dancers w/ Ariellah 1:30-2:15PM Afro-Samba w/ Dandara 2:15-3:00PM Tribal Fusion Drills & Basics w/ Gibson Pearl 3:00-3:45PM Modenco w/ Carole 3:45-4:15PM Pilates w/ Michelle 4:15-5:00PM Hip Hop Fusion w/ Sarah 5:00-5:30PM Contemporary w/ Sara Templeton 5:30-6:15PM Flamenco w/ Carolina 6:15-7:00PM Afro-Caribbean w/ Virginia 7:00-7:30PM Tribal Fusion Drills & Basics w/ Gibson Pearl 7:30-8:15PM Funk Fusion Bellydance w/ Cera 8:15-8:30PM Cool Down 8:30-9:00PM Champagne! about me
"Nothing of [her] that doth fade, but doth suffer a sea-change, into something rich and strange."
Having completed two degrees in Theatre with a minor in Women's Studies, I then, naturally, enrolled for a couple more in Marriage and Family Therapy, determined to become the field's foremost queer practitioner. As you do. I watched every episode of Red Dwarf at one sitting, have bottles of Guenoc Petit Syrah from every year since 1992 (OK, I'm missing 2000 - help?), and if there's a spice I don't have, I want it. I'm kind of a completist when I get on a mini-obsession. I've climbed to the top of one of Colorado's many 14-ers, spent two weeks alone in London, and started my own business in the middle of the worst economy of my adult life. And yet I value stability, believe it or not. The walls in my former condo were cinnamon, orange, saffron, plum, lime, moss, and eggplant. I chose them myself. I may wear black, but I'm a rainbow of fruit flavors. Like the way I identify as a feminist, but wrote my first master's thesis on a famous former porn star. I've been known to DJ now and then. It bugs me, though, because then I can't dance. People think I look like Janeane Garofalo, unless they think I look like Bebe Neuwirth, but really, have you seen Janeane lately? She dieted away all her sass and charm. It's possible I may be the cute one now. I'm a former member of Raks Benazir, who do American Tribal Style and tribal fusion belly dance, and a current member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, who are therapists. I have also recently joined the Shoebox Studio troupe, The Bellydance Mafia. My one-line LJ bio says it well: "Artsy-fartsy queer little gothic therapist professor tribal belly dancer from hell." You can call me Doctor, but I wish you wouldn't.
