Sitting comfortably in her honey-pot gold VW Beetle with all the windows rolled down, she’s grinning, ear to ear, as the cool, refreshing air tickles and caresses her glowing cheeks. As the beat of her favorite song kicks in, she sticks her arm out of the window and joyously starts to sing along with the few words in the d.j’s song, bobbing her head back and forth with a reckless abandon and freedom.
She stops at a red light. She watches and observes everything with a simple and open mind and heart. She tilts her head back and stares straight into the sun; she laughs.
She is 22 years old and far beyond her years. She is adventurous, outgoing, sexy, spontaneous, quick, smart, grounded, and intense. She smells of lavender and wisdom. She is fueled with a fire and a passion that has led her to travel all around the world and has a springing energy that cannot be contained. Yet she is also kind, understanding, and compassionate in a completely un-selfish way. She has the ability to embrace all that she meets with respect and no judgment. Her vivacious vitality attracts all that she could ever need or ask for into her life. And when she dances in her power and in her grace, or whirls around with her hoop, all cannot help but stop and stare.
She dropped out of high school and moved to L.A with her boyfriend when she was 17, feeling that she had received all that she could out of the traditional education system. Her journeys and travels since have been eye-opening, rewarding, uplifting, and freeing, ranging from meditating in India to prancing in delight in the morning sunrise at Burning Man. She is somewhat of a modern-day gypsy. Having just currently returned from a two-week trip to Bali and then Hawaii, she decided to completely start a new life for herself and drove from L.A with all of her belongings in a U-Haul to Humboldt, having never even visited there before.
She always has enough money to get by and that is wonderful. She may stop by Whole Foods later, or go to a friend’s house to pick out a newly, beautifully designed from scratch article of clothing. But, for right now, she’s just… driving.
And as she passes through her new hometown (at least for now), with the music beaming, all she can feel is grateful for each passing moment in her life, bringing un-expected bliss and happiness to her already quite content heart.
