about me
friendly but shy; consciously imperfect perfectionist; consistently inconsistent; ambiguous, ambivalent, but not ambidextrous; irrepressibly curious, ridiculously open-minded and non-judgmental; devil's advocate; occasionally adventurous; information junkie; multi-faceted and multi-talented; addicted to beauty, praise, excitement, infatuation, cuddles and kindness; lucky in love; moving through... tasting everything... finding clarity...

reason #29 why lola rocks:
(from lola to me)
"and don't worry, i won't wake you up at 2am unless it's urgent... or if the cylons find us - then i'll have to wake you up every 33 minutes.."
yep yep yep

Lighthearted, curious, adventurous.
Dancer, bicyclist, stiltwalker.
Hugger, cuddler, prancer.
Lola is more than meets the eye
Though the eye is well-pleased.
LoLa is a total sweetheart
You'd add her to your friends if you know what's best!

I am too alone in the world, and not alone enough
to make every minute holy.
I am too tiny in this world, and not tiny enough
just to lie before you like a thing,
shrewd and secretive.
I want my own will, and I want to simply be with my will,
as it goes towards action,
and in the silent, sometimes hardly moving times
when something is coming near,
I want to be with those who know secret things,
or else alone.
I want to be a mirror for your whole body,
and I never want to be blind, or to be too old
to hold up your heavy and swaying picture.
I want to unfold.
I don't want to stay folded anywhere,
because where I am folded, there I am a lie.
And I want my grasp of things
true before you. I want to describe myself
like a painting that I looked at
closely for a long time,
like a saying that I finally understood,
like the pitcher I use every day,
like the face of my mother,
like a ship
that took me safely
through the wildest storm of all.
~Rainer Maria Rilke
translation by Robert Bly
(thank you, Chandra.)
When you are sharing your joy, you don´t create a prison for anybody —
you simply give. You don´t even expect gratitude or thankfulness,
because you are giving, not to get anything, not even gratitude.
You are giving because you are so full, you have to give.

Free yourself from automobile dependency! People power is the way to go, my friends.
www.worldcarfree.net/wcfd/
from Adbusters: adbusters.org/blogs/world...ay_2007.html
Every September 22, people across the globe get together to swear off their cars – if only for one day – in a collective reminder that we don't have to accept car-dominated societies, cities, or personal lives. Since its earliest incarnations in the 1970s and ‘80s, WORLD CARFREE DAY has grown in...

tonight i fire-hooped for the first time!!!
i loved it. i'm still coming down from the high. hooping is so much more fun than staff. the fire IS a bit distracting, though. i kept staring at it and getting disoriented. i was also *thinking* about it so much that i wasn't relaxing into the groove, and was getting bored of the moves i knew i could do safely.
thanks to the sweet & lovely Heather, who not only loaned me her fire hoop and was my fire safety, but also allayed my fears of...

She danced the dance of flames and fire,
and the dance of swords and spears;
she danced the dance of stars and the dance of space,
and then she danced the dance of flowers in the wind.
Khalil Gibran
(Thanks, Yasmina)
by Marge Piercy
Learning to love differently is hard,
love with the hands wide open, love
with the doors banging on their hinges;
the cupboard unlocked, the wind
roaring and whimpering in the rooms
rustling the sheets and snapping the blinds
that thwack like rubber bands
in an open palm.
It hurts to love wide open
stretching the muscles that feel
as if they are made of wet plaster,
then of blunt knives, then
of sharp knives.
It hurts to thwart the reflexes
of grab, of clutch; to love and let
go again and again. It pesters to remember
the lover who is not in bed,
to hold back what is owed to the work
that gutters like a candle in a cave
without air, to love consciously,
conscientiously, concretely, constructively.
I can't do it, you say it's killing
me, but you thrive, you glow
on the street like a neon raspberry,
You float and sail, a helium balloon
bright bachelor's button blue and bobbing
on the cold and hot winds of our breath,
as we make and unmake in passionate
diastole and systole the rhythm
of our unbound bonding, to have
and not hold, to love
with minimized malice, hunger
and anger moment by moment balanced.
My heart, sit only with those
who know and understand you.
Sit only under a tree
that is full of blossoms.
In the bazaar of herbs and potions
don't wander aimlessly
find the shop with a potion that is sweet
If you don't have a measure
people will rob you in no time.
You will take counterfeit coins
thinking they are real.
Don't fill your bowl with food from
every boiling pot you see.
Not every joke is humorous, so don't search
for meaning where there isn't one.
Not every eye can see,
not every sea is full of pearls.
My heart, sing the song of longing
like nightingale.
The sound of your voice casts a spell
on every stone, on every thorn.
First, lay down your head
then one by one
let go of all distractions.
Embrace the light and let it guide you
beyond the winds of desire.
There you will find a spring and nourished by its see waters
like a tree you will bear fruit forever.
