"best tranny pick-up spot in the Castro!"
Despite the occassional appearance of Landa Lakes, this show is, in the words of the great Peaches Christ, devoid of flaw.

A pretty amazing likeness...
about me
Just so there's no confusion, I'm an XY biofag into men, regardless of their genetic or genital makeup (and no, that doesn't mean putting mascara on your willy, but that could be kinda hot I guess...hmmm).
If you want the annotated experience, listen to Ani Difranco on repeat and read Brad Fraser's UNIDENTIFIED HUMAN REMAINS AND THE TRUE NATURE OF LOVE, Judith Butler's GENDER TROUBLE, and DISIDENTIFCATIONS: QUEERS OF COLOR AND CONTEMPORARY PERFORMANCE by Jose Munoz. Then watch all of John Hughes' films and be ready to talk teenage gender politics...over margaritas and midget porn.
I suck at this sorta thing, but here goes: I grew up
wanting to be a vertebrate paleontologist, and
somewhere down the line I became a playwright. Being the youngest of 6 and the only boy in a Colombian family that settled in a town of 180 people probably had a lot to do with that. I spend a lot of my free time quietly becoming acquainted with myself. I've learned a lot about myself over the course of the past couple of years and am constantly learning more.
Weaves and extensions fill me with glee, as does anything ghetto fabulous.
I'm friendly, easy going, easy to get along with, but
still kinda introverted. I hate large crowds and I get
claustrophobic in packed clubs. I like wandering the
streets and making up life stories for the people I see. I honestly mean it when I ask "How are you?"
I write plays because I have questions that I can't answer in short declarative statements. They can only be answered in voices in action in bodies in motion spiraling toward the inevitable conclusion of yet another question. It's the questions that I find most exciting. They are an invitation for dialogue with an audience, and it's through the dialogue that takes places outside the confines of performance where the real potential for thought and change exists.
I can be reached on AIM at dramatista1978. Oh, yeah. And I like to pretend I can softshoe...
I'll be your private dancer. A dancer for money...
Favorite Quotes: "Its a fabricated absence. Thats where I start from...Its the hole idea...Its the story that youre told that goes, once upon a time you werent here... and you didnt do shit." Suzan Lori Parks
"Every play I write is about love and distance. And time. And from that we can get things like history." Suzan Lori Parks

So I'm heading back to my old stomping grounds of South Boston, VA tomorrow evening. I hope all my Tribesters have a fabulous holiday season. I love you all, but don't ask me to bring back anything like a Smithfield ham or som'n. I ain't got room. Nomsayn?
I'll try to post updates on my oh-so-country holiday sojourn. Ham biscuits. Pepper jelly. Deep fried turkey. Redneck fisting. Mmmmm.
I'll be back on the 27th, just in time for Starsearch at Trannyshack. And no, I'm not competing.

Enrique's plays are incredible gifts. His utter fabu-fucking-losity - poetic pizzaz, satirical sensibility, compelling characterizations, and structural creativity - continually remind me why I do what I do.
Thank you, E.
And everyone else: Watch his plays. Read them. Revel in the fact that he's bringing theater - and the world - to new places.
And pay attention to the colors: in his writing, rich and varied; and, of course, in his kick-ass fashion sense.

Enrique looks damn fine in a polka dotted cowboy hat....
ain't nobody can wear the polka like my man.
wish he'd call me more on that polka dot cell phone of his, i miss slapping that bald head and laughing at things that "aren't funny".

my brothersister, my advocate, my exquisite conspirator, the person I blame for at least half the crazy shit I get into!
When my first MacArthur grant is won or I'm teaching master classes or the show goes on tour or the book or the TV movie or the trashy, ghostwritten autobiography comes out, when I'm washed up and still desperate for a creative outlet so I dot my last squiggly 'i' on the tequila-soaked, scribbled-on cocktail napkin after my last spoken word set in the emptiest dive bar in Hallandale, FL, I will make sure to include a huge, prominent dedication to you, my dear.
I love you and your taco flavored kisses.
ew.
Let me try again:
I love you and your chili relleno flavored kisses.
hmm.
I love you and your grilled veggie and non-refried black beans vegan enchilada flavored kisses.
Maybe.
Sorry, could I swap for a Pancho Villa tofu burrito or one of those fancy-shmancy fusion-y ones from Balazo in the Haight, instead?
You, I love. Kisses, take 'em or leave 'em. But mostly I'll take 'em.
mwah.
