Erica is a lovely girl, spirited and full of life. She has a wonderful sense of humor, and she never forgot how to play! And when she is serious, she is straightforward and compassionate; she thinks of how other people feel while setting an example of self-respect. As a mother, Erica's loving, practical, and thoughtful, and anyone can see from her child's friendly and smart behavior that she's doing a great job there too. Erica means a lot to me, and I'm happy we're in each other's lives.

Erica it's been awesome getting to know you over the last 15 or so years. You have been a friend, a roommate, a co-conspirator and so much more. I admire your ability to be blunt and honest with people.
It doesn't matter how busy we get or how many months elapse between our conversations, it's like we were just talking yesterday.

Erica is one of those people I've met in my life and had a sudden connection with. Sometimes it takes a bit to get to know someone, but we have always been able to share so much about ourselves without reservation. She's a gem that way.
We also think SO Much alike, it's frightening. Seriously. We finish each other's sentences sometimes or stared at each other in wide-eyed amazement when we realize our heads were in the exact same place...and then we just start cracking up or smile and nod.
I adore Erica and am SO thankful she moved back to Cali! She is an absolutely WONDERFUL friend!! Ooooh, and I can't wait for us to both have our roller-skates and hit the road on 'em. Hopefully not with our knees...but we'll just have to wait and see. We'll be the ones with the camouflage helmets and knee pads hoping to not be seen right away...at least until we are good enough for roller derby...then we'll wear bright PINK!

Okay, for some reason people are writing about Erica in a non-demeaning fashion...
...for good reason! She's the person in a group of friends that seems to have more shit going on, more real factors agitating her life, more actual trauma. But does she let you know about it?
YES! And she's damn proud of it!
Erica puts up with a lot and gives a lot, which makes her, I dunno, a give up and make up kind of girl. But more importantly, she is excessively friendly, even when she shouldn't be, and she names things that shouldn't be named. Like tomato plants and unreconcilable differences.
Try not to take too much shit, Erica. If you overflow, who knows what could happen?

All over the newspapers and the internet, it seems like black voters in California are getting the brunt of the blame for Prop 8 passing. Of course I was very much against Prop 8 but more than anything, I'm against this sort of rampant fingerpointing that only serves stir up mistrust and resentment. I have been an absentee voter for a while now but since I moved from Vallejo, I failed to return the form so I dropped Ian off at school and headed to my polling location.
