<div>Today marks the 2 year anniversary of your departure from this world.

Thanks for all of the insight and inspiration that you provided me with, and for always being there when I needed you. You were far from perfect, and it was difficult to watch you sink into the muck of your own self-pity and depression at the end of your life. I don't think that you ever quite found what you were looking for in life, and I hope that death provided you with the relief which you so desparately needed.

Nonetheless you taught me so much, both in life and in death. You were a powerful example for me, sometimes in what to do and other times in what not to do.

Every once in a while I think of calling you and then I remember that is impossible now. Even though you left this world behind you will always be a part of my heart and my soul. I'm not sure if you would be proud of what I am accomplishing or not; I don't remember you being proud of much. Either way you've helped shape me into the person that I've become and in part I have you to thank for my successes.

May you rest in peace and find in death everything that you lacked in life.</div>

<div>I'll be throwing it down at the Endup with Ladyhouse and Funk D'Void (Barcelona) starting at 10 PM...the party goes 'til 4. Endup is at 401 Sixth Street at Harrison just in case you haven't been there. BOOMING soundsystem peeps.

Here's the info on Sir Funk:

Funk D'Void has most definitely got the funk. Much in demand as a DJ
around the world, he's a critically acclaimed producer as well, with
three albums to date - 1997's Technoir, 2001's Dos, and 2003's Volume
Freak (all on Soma Records). His remix work is stellar: New Order,
Kraftwerk, Underworld, Laurent Garnier and Kevin Saunderson to name a
few. Djing since 1986 (Scottish DMC finalist 2 years in a row) he
shows no sign of slowing down, showing a hunger for music and
interaction with international clubbing crowds that is
unparalleled.

Joining us all the way from Barcelona, Funk D'Void is going to make you freak!</div>

<div>There's a day party today at Kelly's Mission Rock. Yes, strangely enough, a day party at Kelly's the day before the first Second Sunday party of the season. Anyhow, it's a beautiful day. Initially, I was slated to play the closing set at midnight. Due to uncontraollable circumstances, my set got moved to 3 PM, the opening set. So, if you want to come enjoy the sunshine while I kick the party off with some summertime grooves I would love to see you there. It probably won't be a crazy over the top party packed with dancers shoulder to shoulder, but I promise to play some great records and do everything I can to set a great vibe for the party.

After I play, some of the bay area's best dj's will be performing as well. Rick Preston, Tony Hewitt, Solar, Galen, Deron Delgado, and a lot more (3 rooms of sound and 11 hours of music.) Oh, and it is a Tiki party so I'll be wearing my aloha shirt. Feel free to do the same. I hope some of you can join me.

Cheers, and whatever you're doing I hope you are having a gorgeous day and enjoying your existence.

What I face each day

<div>I awaken to the sound of my own heart pounding in my chest as fear grips me by the throat, telling me that I don't deserve any of this and that I am destined to be alone forever, my dreams smashed to pieces like ships battered against rocks during a storm. My mind knows these feelings are a deception, but my heart is not so easily convinced. I want to run and hide and escape because I hate the way that this feels but I know that if I do the feeling will stay here forever under the surface slowly torturing me and undermining any hope that I possess of feeling whole and returning to some semblance of piece of mind. I must now find the courage to face my fear and surrender, let it wash over me and experience the terror that I have pushed away for so long. I am my own worst enemy and I assail myself tirelessly. I wonder if there will ever be an end to this. There is no reason for my panic yet it still exists like a sore on my heart that won't heal. I hide these things very well. Dressed in stoicism I steel myself each day for the onslaught that transpires in my soul, as the battle that rages on between my mind and my heart. My soul has been stuffed so far into a corner, my heart so painfully bludgeoned that each cowers in fear of being struck again. My self is split into fragments, and I cannot find the box to this puzzle. How do I put myself back together without some kind of guide to look at? I fear that if I reach out no hand will be there, that I will jump and no net will catch me. Nonetheless I arise each day, trying as hard as I can muster to boldly march in the direction of my dream, praying with every ounce of faith that I can find in this tiny sliver of hope. I will dare to wish again today, and I will do my best to remember that even if it all falls apart and ends in utter failure I will be guided to a new path and that the next step will be illuminated. </div>

Sunset Party today in Marin

<div>This is where I will be today, followed by our night at Pink. Sunset parties rock, and the season opener is always amazing. We'll be blanketing and barbecueing. Come find me or hit me up on the cell 415 412 0406. Word!

Don't Forget, there have been a many issues and some deaths related to under age drinking in Marin over the last year and there are concerns for that at SUNSET too. We are strongly asking for everyone to please not let anyone underage drink alcohol. Also, do not drive drunk. Please specify a designated driver for the day. You don't want a Marin Sheriff tailing you out of Novato. If there is evidence of either, there is a good chance we will no longer be having our events at Stafford Lake.

Also, DO NOT pee in the bushes. Stafford Lake is a watershed and even though watering a bush with your fluids may seem harmless it is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. We have rented a record number of Porto-Pots that are quite expensive. USE THEM. Even if there is a line.

Last, there NO pets allowed at Stafford Lake, Not even in your car. We're not sure why but they are very adamant about it and you will be asked to leave if you do.

PLEASE help us abide by these restrictions for the safety of everyone involved. This is a large event and we need everyone's collective consciousness to keep these unique events happening. More info is coming later this week so check it and let's have an awesome day in the park.
&amp;lt;&amp;lt;&amp;lt;~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>>>
&amp;lt;&amp;lt;&amp;lt;~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>>>

Dear San Francisco Breaks Scene,

<div>Can we please, please, let it go already? I am so tired of hearing you bitch about house music and then dance your ass off to it. Please, educate yourself about what a "breakbeat" is and what a "house" track is. Here is a hint: if the beat is 4 on the floor then it is house. If it is broken up it is a breakbeat. That is the only fucking difference. Same tempo, same time signature, same software used to make it. Newsflash: every single "breaks" party I go to I hear house tracks and you are all still dancing. How about you stop hating and realize that, like any other genre, there is shitty house, mindblowingly great house, and everything in between, and that some of your favorite breaks djs spin house in the same set as breaks without you even knowing it?

Several years ago, a very particular style of house became enormously popular in SF and took a bunch of dj's all over the world. Many of them are still famous and make their livings producing music and djing across the globe. Generally the style of this music was loungey with a lot of vocals and, for those of us who like it dirty, edgy, raw, and are into shaking our fucking asses, very boring. Cool to listen to at the beach or something but not the kind of shit I want to hear at 2:30 in the morning when the party is raging.

I love great music. I don't care what "genre" someone spins. I care about their dj skills. I care about their ability to weave tracks together to create a new soundscape and make me beg for more. I care about whether they can reach inside of my soul and force me to dance or not, and if they can work a dancefloor into a frenzy.

I hate when you ask me what I spin. I know if I tell you that I spin house some of you will roll your eyes and never talk to me again. I also know that if you get your ass onto one of my dancefloors that you will be pleasantly surprised to hear twisted, gritty, techy, glitchy sounds with a banging 4/4 kick and a bass line that rattles your rib cage and that you will be dancing. Hard.

Oh, and when I try to hand you a flier it is a compliment. It means I like your style and your vibe and I am inviting you to attend an event that I am pouring countless hours into and spending thousands of dollars to produce. Looking at me like you just stepped in dog shit and not taking my flier because you think that the only events you ever might want to come to end up in your email inbox or on nitevibe.com makes you way less cool than you think it does.

Shit makes me really miss the scene in the 90's (which I suspect many of you weren't as keyed into) before people gave a fuck what "genre" it was and they didn't even know what the genres were and you'd hear house, breaks, trance, jungle, acid, and anything else all in the same party and everyone just danced until they were completely covered in sweat and our heartrates were pumping really hard and we kept dancing until the sun came up and then caught a few hours of sleep (maybe) in time to do it again the next night.

But this isn't about the past, it is about the future. How much more fun would the parties be if we all stopped hating and just supported each other? I hope to find out.

Wish me good skill! (I don't really believe in luck.)

    </a>
<div>Man this shit makes me sick sometimes...

Can't people get it through their heads that it is about the fucking music, not the prestige or the status or any of the other bullshit that comes along with making shit happen in this town? Sometimes it just gets so frustrating! It is difficult enough to come up in a city where everyone and their brother is a dj regardless of their skill level and people get gigs based on whose dick they are sucking rather than how well they rock a crowd. Some of the people who have an established thing going on seem to feel the need to make it difficult for others to come up out of fear of losing what they have.

I don't want to get into particulars and talk trash about anyone specific, but generally this whole process is just so painstaking and irksome sometimes. I guess I just need to stay a bit punk rock and make my own shit happen with a middle finger up at all of the haters. I also need to remember those who have been kind to me and supported me all along as an example of how I should act when I get to where I want to be.
