Project List- Underwire Bra Fabric for the outside and inside Beads Strung already Coin Necklaces Hooks-Real good ones Beads -glass Beading Thread Beading Needle Gold Trim I've made a coin bra before. To see how to take apart and cover a bra go to people.tribe.net/erikaschi...8bd4791ec9 has lots and lots of links I worked on this bra for about 3 months. After taking apart and covering it, I added the layer of already strung beads to the front. I did an extra stringing of the beads just as a precaution. I then started hand stitching the gold trim on top of the strung beads. After looking at it- it was too empty so I hand beaded glass beads to the trim. I then added the cabachons and hand beded those. This is what took so long to do. I then hand stitched the necklaces on the bottom of the cups. I got those at Goodwill for a 1.00 each. I added the straps after the cups where done. I will have to redo them since I made them too small. I added big hooks on the back. This is very important so your costume stays in place. I can't wait to wear this to a show someday. It matches my Hakama pants too. Project List- Depending how tall you are 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 yards of your choose of fabric. 2 1/2 inch wide elastic Measuring tape Pattern measurments-List on bottom I wanted a new look for pants besides harem/pantaloons and add some martial arts look to a costume I was gonna wear for a bo staff bellydance piece. I found these modified Hakama pants pattern that would be great for my new costume. What are Hakama pants?www.japanesekimono.com/japane...nts.htm Traditional Japanese Hakama pants are worn today by Martial artists or in traditional Japanese ceremonies, etc. I saw this pattern here and modified it. www.geocities.com/anne_lies...hakama.htm It has this long tie around which I took apart and redid an elastic waistband instead. The waist band is about 3 inches wide with 2 1/2 inch wide elastic. I also sewed it up on the sides where traditionally the sides aren't sewn all the way up. www.members.shaw.ca/dragonsa...tume3.jpg They are quite easy to sew up and the pleats on this modified one are easy. Tradional Hakama pants have a back board on them. www.bubishi.com.au/shop/ima...akama.jpg I wasn't interested in getting this technical with it. I just omitted this and I think this pattern doesn't even have a section to add to it. The pleats are easy but they also mean something. www.kendo-usa.org/reference...eaning.htm I plan on making another pair sometime. Project List: Pennies or any other type of coin Split rings matching your coin color (you can also use 0-rings) Drill press or drill(make sure your wear goggles and that you know how to use it) Pliers(to hold your coin while you drill and to open split rings) Jewelry Chain Just to let you know these bracelets are also called slave bracelets but I prefer hand flowers. This is another item I made with pennies. You can use any type of coin but remember some coins from certain countries will be harder to drill because of what metals they use in their coins. The best way to make holes in them is to use a drill press. Previous blog on drilling coins Erika's Chiquis blog- erikaschiquis.blogspot.com/2008....html Tribe Blog-maine.tribe.net/template/p...2CDetail.vm Make a pattern then line up your coins on it to see where to drill your holes. Some coins will need more holes than others depending where it is placed.A good way to open split rings is with pliers. 4.bp.blogspot.com/_E7r664fn...0_2110.JPG Slide the coins in one at a time. Try on to see if you have enough coins to go around your wrist.Add your chain to the top coin's split ring. Measure it around your 3 fingers and add or remove chain links to fit.The coins that go around your wrist is where you add a toggle and ring. Add two split rings to the coin that will hold the large ring for the toggle. 1.bp.blogspot.com/_E7r664fn...0_2111.JPG Pic of me wearing them 3.bp.blogspot.com/_E7r664fn...e+08+2.jpg Links on how to make hand flowers Tatted Hand flower tutorial beadschool.blogspot.com/2008/0...ct.html Wire Hand Flower tutorial www.jewelrylessons.com/jewel/node/6029 Vendors There are many vendors but if you want hand made go to etsy www.etsy.com/search_results.php

Project List Fabric Hooks This is like the Bi-color Cholis I made before. It took me awhile to figure out what to do with this fabric. Its so pretty but hard to find a matching teal color for it. I finally did and made a matching Hakama for this outfit. This was for a dance with martial arts fused in it. I basically did the same steps as the bi-color choli except adding a teal fabric trim on the bottom hem, cross over fronts and arms. You have to constantly check the fit with this so it doesn't end up too short on the hem and ride up and that it properly fits all around you but yet is flexible for you to move in. I added hooks on the front which I didn't on the bi-color choli. I love these tops and probably will make more later. Another great thing with these tops, you can wear your bra right under them. Pictures of me wearing it people.tribe.net/erikaschi...a63f49df12 people.tribe.net/erikaschi...35436e91ee For free patterns, information and vendors of all kinds of cholis, check out my previous blog on them people.tribe.net/erikaschi...f1369d5ff6

I have yet to meet Erika in person, but I can already gather that she is a sweet creative woman. She runs a business, but still finds time to enlighten us with her DIY projects (which are wonderful by the way). Thank you for always helping me when I got stuck on a project. Stay sweet and take care. Love ya!

Erika has some amazing DIY projects, with amazing results. I love her costuming, her use of colours and how she puts it all together. I also love that she has a Hugh Jackman fetish. I love him too. *smiles*

Finding one of her DIY projects on tribe, I looked into Erica's profile. Not only is she an interesting person, but she has a lot of GREAT ideas for belly dance costumes! I love her fascination for 'Wolverine'(which is obvious from her photos) but I love that she really gives great advice and seems to want to help. Go Erica! You Rock!
