Too Late for a Working Girl
Tue, May 22, 2007 - 11:08 PMlook at her go--
clockwork style!
She's doing forty a week,
processing files, reading memos,
drinking coffee, queen of the Starbuck's line, java time,
nine-to-five, feeling so alive,
well almost.
She wears makeup to draw attention to her fake smile
and talk about work, she's got her pile.
Today she's working robot style.
This is really me,
she tells herself in the bathroom mirror,
just a quick nod of reassurance.
Sure she could get adjusted to this schedule of life,
catching her favorite tv shows every night,
lights out at 10:30 sharp.
If you want to know what I mean:
just give her a break,
and she'll take 15.
