Ah, Esteban! One of my oldest friends among the Radical Faeries. He has so many qualities I like and admire...
More restrained than his Cetacean husband, he is possessed of a quiet playfulness that comes across with a wink and a sly smile and a subtle wit that are gentle and endearing.
He is clever with his hands and surrounds himself with flashes of color that dot his universe like stars. He has a good eye for detail and can pretty near always be counted on to be ready with just the right word, and he knows when enough is enough.
Passionate but not strident, he provides a strong foundation for those who depend on him, and he knows his mind. With Cetacea he provides safe space for many; his hospitality is organic and sure. He is kind to animals.
He is a good old friend to have. I am blessed.

What can I say about Esteban??? Well my first impression was that he is a sweet, kind, caring, funny, observant (that part was special to me), and big 'ole teddy bear of a giving fellow. Well, the trueth of the matter was that that wasn't a big deal at the time. Heck I was at my first fairie gathering & I had met so many special people that he didn't stand out. That part is a reflection upon me, not him.
Over the years, or should I say "A shit load" of gatherings later, I discovered that while so many folks came and went, so many grew, so many spiraled downward, Esteban remained true to my first impression. He became one of the few "rocks" that I could hold onto.
The funny (or is it ironic?) part of it is that he is the least 'rock' like person you could ever meet. He remains one of the sweetest, softest, most caring, giving, lovable fellows that have ever enriched my life. For this I thank him. For this I suggest that y'all get to know him better...

about me
Mid-life heath issues forced me to make a decision where I want to be health-wise in the next twenty years. So, I took a great leap of faith and had a bariatric lap-ban procedure performed in early November '07. As of this update I have lost 125 lbs so far. Looking to lose a lot more. Judge for yourself, check out my pictures. They are posted with the latest pix first. Esteban

Hurricane Gustav
(in DFW Radical Faeries)
Yet another hurricane is headed to NOLA and the south TX coastline early next week. Cetacea and I are expecting at least three faeries from the region to hang out here in Garland till the evacuation is ended. We will be hosting them for as long as...

Re: ATTN: New Orleans Faeries!!

Hey y'all,
We have already heard from three faeries that will be headed our way this weekend. Looks like there may be a lot more looking for refuge though. The city of Dallas is offering space for 1000 folks at the Convention Center here. Gov. ...

ATTN: New Orleans Faeries!!
(in Radical Faeries)
Howdy y'all,
It looks like New Orleans, LA, USA, is in for another vicious visit from Mother Nature just three years after Hurricane Katrina. Gustav is bearing down on the Louisiana/Mississippi Gulf Coast for landfall sometime early next week....

Howdy y'all,
After months and months of planning, I have to bail out on my trip to the Shaman's gathering at Zuni this week. I have been sidelined by some sort of knee injury. It began Saturday evening as a dull ache in my left knee and my yesterday morning the pain drove me to see my doctor. He explained that the tendon that controls the lateral movement is damaged. I will get the results of the preliminary x-rays on Friday morning and those will tell me if I have to go for an MRI to dete...

"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass but learning how to dance in the rain." by Anonymous I suppose since the quote came from an article on a local student athlete who said it was the best advice ever given to him.

Hey y'all,
If you get the opportunity to see this concert tour I suggest you take full advantage and buy your tickets early to see a unique mix of music history. Cyndi Lauper, The B-52's, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and Andy Bell (Erasure) put on one hell of a show. With all the artists headed towards the far side of 50 it was truly terrific example of you are as young as you feel. Each of the acts seemed to be in some sort of unspoken competition for who could exhibit the most energeti...

I went to my first gathering of faeries outside the NOTX region weekend before last. For the past decade and a half a group of Arkansas radical faeries have been gathering at a Suffi retreat center named Heartsong in the Ozark Mountains east of Fayetteville. This year there were 63 men in attendance. By all counts it was their largest gathering ever. Of the 63, only 13 were not from Arkansas, only 3 were under the age of 30 and a few of them have been to the Midwest Men Festival but only the ...

Today, Cetacea and I are celebrating the 16th anniversary of our handfasting. It is strange how time passes. Sometimes it flows gently like a river wide and deep. Then sometimes its as if a dam burst upstream and a flood is ravaging the valley. Lately the swirling waters of chaos have seemed to have formed a whirlpool. It is taking all our strength as a couple to struggle against issues outside our relationship that are trying to drag us down. During our time together, we have struggled agains...
