...daughter bought harem pants

I sold the first pair about a week or so ago to a friend of mine who started her beginner class a few months back.

As I was putting stuff away from this past weekend's Swap-n-Shop, my youngest kidlet scooped up the hot pink harem pants and skidded off to her room. She came out twirling the legs saying she liked them. I told her they were made to be sold - she said ok and skipped back to her room. A few minutes later, she shows up in my work room and plops down $23 and says she'll buy them.

I *let* her buy them for $10. Now some folks might think I'm nuts for making her pay for them. But, in a wierd sort of way, there's a lesson here in that she can't always get stuff for free. Besides, I thought it was really sweet of her to offer to pay.

...awww, bugger! sloppy sewing

I just finished the first pair of harem pants I want to sell at my BellyDance Costume Swap-n-Shop in August. I didn't realize I had gotten so sloppy with my sewing until I had to pay attention to what I was doing. I go on *automatic* when I make these for myself, so some details slide right on by without me missing them.

Good thing I'm not trying to make a jillion pairs.

:D :D :D

movie review - "10,000BC"

Don't bother with DVD rental or pay-per-view...wait for the TV *premier*
...garbled historical periods - mammoths & pyramid building tossed in with warriors on horseback - and the costuming, aieee! - animal skins (looking suspiciously like vinyl) and what seemed to be mid-eastern desert robes & turbans
...the saber-tooth shown in the preview commercials, well, that's all there is in the movie
...the "hero" had a remarkable command of the English language - ok, so they had to do that so the audience would understand, but it just didn't fit somehow - maybe too formal? with the wording and grammar
...the "hero" and friends climbing a cliff, supposedly to follow a band of warriors on horseback - uh, hello... horses can't climb like this - where was the "continuity" person in the edit room?

Oh and FYI for the kiddies - the PG-13 rating...no sex / maybe a hint or two, no profanity...violence as in person killing person, mammoth killing person, threats of violence - no blood, no gore

Did I like the movie? No, waste of money on pay-per-view...even the kidlets thought it was boring. Suppose it would be ok, if you've got some hand sewing to do and need something going on the the background

....yeah, r-i-i-i-ight

What's with the spam that has this as the subject line?
..."what a stupid face you have here, etana", ..."you look really stupid, etana", etc etc etc

Uh, right. I'm going to open those...right after I answer the folks who are to send me a few million dollars, after I order my Rolex, after I buy some high-dollar shoes and get my order in for some prescription meds.

...wow, just wow

I've heard a hawk sqawking all morning...that's not that unusual in this suburban neighborhood. There's a very large tract of land 2-3 miles away that's owned by the water department for water reclamation and the wildlife around here is varied. I've had racoons eating the dog food, taken a bat out of the house, seen turtles & rabbits in our front yard, squirrels & chipmunks live right next to the house, deer graze the grass in the front yard, picked up a dead possum (thanks to the dog) out of the back yard. We suspect there's a fox or two around and quite possibly, coyote.

What the girls & I saw this morning was drama - pure and simple - a life and death play right in our front yard. We've been noticing one particular rabbit in the yard for a couple weeks now (well, give-n-take on the time frame) - nothing strange there - but this one doesn't seem to go very far. I watched early this morning while a small cat spooked it out of some azalea bushes. The rabbit didn't go far but the cat just nosed around the bushes and moved on.

Then, late morning, we're all in the kitchen and I noticed the hawk sitting on a low tree branch and the rabbit was close by - frozen still as we learn they do. The next bit caught all of us by surprise. The hawk landed on the ground and the rabbit ran straight toward it veering off at the last minute to sit under a group of small bushes.

These 2 animals had a stare down for a few minutes - the hawk stretching out it's wings and the rabbit just sitting there. All of a sudden, the rabbit makes a beeline right at the hawk running in a tight circle around the hawk and then back to the small bushes it had been under. The hawk appeared to make a grab at the rabbit, but missed. I couldn't see, but I get the impression the rabbit may have tried to claw or snap at the hawk <?>. This happened twice before the hawk flew off to a tree in the next yard.

The rabbit, well, not sure where it went when I finally gave up watching - it stayed under those bushes for a long time. My guess is this is a mother rabbit and there's a nest of babies close by. Oh, and the hawk, it's still sqawking and it's still close.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------1:41 pm
Well, the hawk that got chased off by the rabbit went for reinforcements. We've just had -3- hawks perch for awhile in the trees in our front yard and they're scoping out the ground pretty hard. (hehehe) Where our yard is usually a playground for squirrels, there's not a one to be seen right now. We figure the first hawk was young as it's body size was close or a bit smaller than the rabbit. So maybe the 2 hawks he (or she) brought back were Momma and a sibling? Will keep you posted. The girls are excited as we have a real life "Animal Planet" show in our front yard.

.... major, big time *&$%#&%()

...and who was in charge of getting the music to our stage manager? Me
...and who copied the song on a single cd just in case the master went kerflooey? Me
...and who forgot to check that what was copied, in both cases, was the correct song? Me

Apparently, the music I downloaded did not download in liner note order. I knew where it was on my cd, but it wasn't in the same place on my compter and *was not* the same song I copied for the show last night.

So, guess who ended up doing improv - to music I copied and did not know - with audience members instead of the choreo we rehearsed for weeks? Me...and my dance partner

And, maybe it was karmic influence trying to calm me down, but the stereo system ate my instructor's music ((she was up after my partner & I)) and she didn't have a backup cd. So the rest of us dragged out zils, tambourines and drums - the restaurant owner put on a different song and she got to dance anyway.

Ah, life! Gotta' love it...

...and the Goddess smiled

I can't get away from bellydance costuming.

So here I go, bopping off to the big box hardware store (Lowe's) for more paint. I know I'm changing out some curtains and took a side trip down the curtain aisle - more for inspiration than actual purchase.

And, then She smiled. Right there, in full view, marked down to $6.24 was a bronze fringe curtain. We're talking heavyweight chainette fringe on a satin band...measuring 48x84.

Now, who am I to turn down such an offer? :D :D :D

Oh, just color me ticked-off!!!

So here I am, scanning the various workshops for the next 6 months or so. I've found two (so far) that I'd like to attend and have even sent a deposit on one of them.

One of my problems with weekend workshops is that hubby has to work on Saturday and I have to co-ordinate with my MIL for babysitting services.

Well, workshop #1 (2 days) is on the same weekend as my MIL's family reunion on Sunday...which she hosts...
and so she's tied up the entire weekend. I haven't signed up yet, but even if I took just the Saturday classes, there's still nobody to keep an eye on the kids. DRAT!

AND, workshop #2 is 4-5 days long...which I was going to finagle as my vacation time away from hubby, kids, work, etc. I got so excited, I sent in my deposit. But noooooo! There's a trade show our company participates in that same week and hubby is out-of-pocket for about -7- days. The in-laws ((well, it *is* their company, technically)) are heavily involved in the show and so, they're no help either.

So, to repeat, just color me *real* ticked off!!
