Renn Faire

The plan is to go this Saturday - if the weather stays nice.

Pants - check
Entari - check
Tunic - check
Shoes - check
Hip Belt - check
Veil Headdress - check
Big handbag - check
Nerve to wear it all - looking for it

And for the fun of it, here's my *story*...

I am called Etana. I am the daughter of an English scholar with a love of traveling. My mother died when I was quite young and, being of modest means and no other family, my father took me with him on his travels. I was given my name in a land of dark-skinned peoples. I am sorry, I was young and do not remember the name of that land.

When I became of age, I married a man from the land of Persia. This man and my father shared a love of learning and traveling and so, we traveled with a small trading caravan. I was fortunate to have been taught the business of the caravan and now am able to lead in their place as both have gone to the arms of Allah.

Yes, I know my daughters dress strangely. We have been to many lands and have met people with strange customs. But we are comfortable...I in the dress of my husband's people and my daughters in the clothes they have chosen.

Wonderful story! Even if you don't tell anyone else, it lets you stay in character while the girls be themselves. Good thinking.

Hopefully, you'll have fine weather and a wonderful time.

Liz, I got to thinking about that story after I hit the *enter* button...just how dorky did it sound to build a story around wearing a costume for one day??

Oh, well - my little mind wanders around while I sew. I usually don't have music playing so I can keep an ear out for the girls. This story is what I came up with and I think it sounds kinda' neat.

Okay, if Etana is dorky, then dorky is VERY cool. Love the story. Cannot wait to see pictures of you and the babies all dressed up!

Batya -
My girls are begging me not to dress up. (hehe) Probably the best reason to wear the entari & stuff - embarass the kids. They'll be in jeans ((they love doing all the rides and such, including the climbing wall)). That's why the story evolved the way it did...as a way to explain the different clothing styles.
