...skirt idea

Somewhere in my tribe travels, there's a skirt idea - either I found it or someone else did - had this on my mind when I woke up this morning - don't have my notebook handy -

a version of mermaid / trumpet skirt

just-above-knee-length straight skirt (slightly stretchy fabric ?velvet?)...zipper closure - this could be a store bought skirt, thrift store find or made from scratch - then
randomly attach assorted floaty fabrics, various shapes, to the bottom of the straight skirt

I'm thinking this would look nice with a bead/fringe bra & belt set - maybe a matching "shrug* made from one of the floaty fabric pieces for those of us who prefer a bit more coverage

Liz-
I'm thinking royal blue velvet - sparkly lighter & darker royal blue floaty fabric for the bottom / maybe even a touch of lace - the existing bra/belt set is royal blue with ?gold? or ?silver? ((I forgot)).

I'm not much on exposing the legs - they're icky. I might do a privacy panel...maybe a moderate ruffle or most likely, tack some of the fabrics together in strategic places for minimum leg exposure. Oh, I could get some sparkly footless tights!!

Ultimately, it would give you a nice, lean line but with swirl at the bottom. Depending on your fabric, you could even do layers of "irregular" at the bottom for the coverage. But sparkly tights would be fun, fun, fun!

That's what I had in mind - irregular shapes and sizes - overlapping and /or layered - but not stitched together......like one triangle attached along one side / but then another smaller triangle attached at one corner...maybe overlapped with a small half circle shape attached in the middle of the straight side for an inch or so leaving the ends to flutter freely

This would be a marvelous way to use up scraps!!
