I had the honor of being invited to dance at this event, after 7 years of being an spectator ! I also took 4 classes , so by sunday I was exhausted. I give credit to Maja for organizing such event, it takes lots of planning, and effort! ARABELLA my dance group performed a gypsy inspired tambourine/drum dance. The choreo was created by me, I wanted to portray the gypsy flavor in it, with the partner dance.and the poses in the dance. Ken our drummer , Jana , Noemi and Shona , did great, and most of all we had tons of fun! Dalia Carella the Queen of Gypsies , enjoyed it and that is all i need! Now we are working on a new dance....

Fusion Fest was great !

After months of planning Shan and myself finaly presented Fusion Fest to a crowd of about 80. The 4 classes Hula , Latin , Zambra mora and Egyptian had an enthusiastic group of students who learned new steps and had fun. The show was varied and offered a little bit of eveything ,from traditional egyptian by Kat, Jennifer, and Karina , to neo tribal and burlesque by Stacey O'Neill,flamenco,and zambra mora, gypsy arabic by Maja and the Gypsy Tribe . All the dancers were beautiful and talented. Thanks so much for being there!

the clock is ticking...this is the event Shan and myself plan every year, we look forward to organizing a full day of classes , show and bazaar. We started afew years back and now we cant part with it, it is so much fun to do! From the intelectual conception to the day we turn the light off the stage, it is a whilrwind of activity. the response has been great, and that is what keep us motivated to do it again! we want to invite you to attend, learn a new dance step and overall connect among dancers! for more info check the web site ! the party went great I am so tired today, we had a great time, enjoyed a great show with all styles of dance, from hula to flamenco, to hip hop all under the influence of bellydance of course, all the performers gave their best. Costumes were very creative, I finally wore a Cleopatra costume, I had the dress in my closet from a vintage store I added some ribbon and a headpiece plus a pharaonic necklace and there it was my costume!

the party is Thursday and i dont have a costume yet!!!

can you believe it? no costume yet for the halloween party, seems incredible we bellydancers spend half of our wake up time wearing a costume and now that I have to wear one for halloween dont have one... oh well I usually fabricate one last minute , that is how they come to be original and fun to wear, it is a mix of adrenaline and nerves trying to find the perfect accesory Last years costume was according to the setting I was in : home with no electricity because of meanie Wilma....I was a pioneer woman, black skirt, long sleeved blouse and a hanker chief over my head, we had a bonfire , it felt like Lewis and Clark type of setting....the kids did their trick or treat with lanterns and candles among fallen trees and debris from the hurricane. so what are you going to be this year...??? .

well I better get a hang of this blog thing! I am going to start writing here I guess it is like a journal.. Iused to keep them when I was growing up. I just returned from a weekend in Beautiful Puerto Rico where I grew up part of my life.... I had the chance to dance there I was invited by Helena to dance at Tierra Santa an arabic lebanese restaurant. It was fun, the place is beautifully decorated with hookah pipes, lamps and a tented ceiling. When I arrived at 830pm it was full! people were expecting the show! Nikole is a 15 yr old prodigy of the dance, she acompanied Helena and me, she is a beautiful girl with lots of talent, Helena is a beautiful Goddess who is also an excellent dancer organized the show with a total of 10 dance numbers, including sword, fan,candle and veil, we took turns going in/out of the dance area. I enjoyed the way people responded to the dance, all smiles, cheers and claps, no serious faces or self absorbtion, everyone gets up and dances with no shyness at all! men loved to dance too! and the ladies encouraged them to get up and dance! I felt very welcomed , thanks so much to Helena and Nikole for inviting me ! I look forward to going back soon!
